The sentence “I fucking hate rap” is not an ideal or a principle, it’s a statement of his subjective preferences. He’s selling his skills for money. You can sell your guitar solo for a paycheck and still hate rap all you want. There is no contradiction in some higher sense of “ideals” and (gasp) “public stance”! That’s silly. It’s just business.

Say I hate reggae, for example. If some reggae band wanted to pay me for playing a guitar solo on their track and I needed the money, hell yeah I would do it. Does that mean I suddenly don’t hate reggae, or that I’m some kind of hypocrite and I’ve betrayed my “metal ideals”? Fuck no. I’m just selling my labor for profit.

I think the point is missed in this quote. Zakk is notoriously sarcastic and I think mostly this is meant to be a joke. As far as putting a track down on DJ Hero… It doesn’t seem very metal, but then again either does your constant ranting about Dave Grohl… Just suck his penis already and get on with life.

Also, Eminem’s last couple of albums might have sucked, but he has more talent in his respective field than Zakk does in his field. Playing guitar and writing lyrics are too separate areas, but Eminem’s word play, lyrics, flow, and basically everything involved with The Eminem show and before totally Own anything he’s done with Black Label Society.
