WHAT THE FUCK EVER HAPPENED TO CANNAE, ANYWAYS?
Thursday, November 12th, 2009 at 2:00pm by Axl RosenbergDoes anyone even remember Cannae? They were on Prosthetic. Their last album, Gold Becomes Sacrifice, was produced by Jason Suecof. But that was in 2005. Their MySpace page hasn’t been updated since 2006, but it also says that someone logged-in a couple of weeks ago. Meanwhile, Wikipedia makes no mention of them breaking up.
I don’t ask because I like Cannae; I found Gold to be wholly unmemorable. I ask because it’s a slow news day, and it seemed more fun to discuss the band with you, our faithful readers, than to e-mail someone at Prosthetic and ask “What the dilly?”
Here’s “Rats, Snakes and Thieves” from Gold Becomes Sacrifice.

Well somebody named Jay commented (Myspace) that they played a show sometime on or around Nov. 2 so there’s a faint pulse of activity
They are using sea shells for money.
They just played in Providence a few months ago opening for Bury your Dead. I think they might be working on a new album too
Why do all of their songs fade in? I didn’t think they were all that bad but I never understood the fade in on every song.
One or two of those dudes posts on the Lambogat message board sometimes. I’ll ask.
Shane is producing bands in studio now, too: http://www.myspace.com/martyrsandmadmen
Horror was an awesome album. In fact, I was listening to it last week wondering what happened to this band. Get out of my head, Axl!!!
They were on tour with All Shall Perish just back in Oct and had to cancel there show in Utah
My friend played them for me about a year ago. I see their CD’s in local CD stores on occasion
What the fuck happened to the Fucking Champs, for that matter? Their last album was in 2007, but neither their website nor their Myspace have had updates since then, and there are no upcoming tour dates posted. It’d be a shame if they broke up before I got to see them live.
They played what seemed to be (According to Shane and Colin) their last show on October 18 near Boston. Colin is playing in a band called Frozen (http://www.myspace.com/frozenusa) and Shane is now actively recording bands (http://www.myspace.com/thebrickhithouse) at his studio on Cape Cod. (He’s also trying really hard to sell the band’s van for $5,000) As for the rest of the guys, I don’t know what they are up to…
I heard recently they were putting things back together and writing new tunes. I liked Gold Becomes Sacrifice. Wasn’t nuts on their earlier albums, but Gold, while not the most spectacular album ever, really sounded like they were honing in on something….at least to me anyway. Hope they return with new material sometime in 2010.
we’ve played two shows in the last 3 years, one in providence RI in August i believe and in dover NH in october.
we have written new material but i couldnt tell you where we’re going with it. it may become a new Cannae record or it may be something new and different. i dunno. i havent spoken to our “label” in 3 years.
colin is still shredding on drums and gtr, has dreads, and i can only assume is high right now.
steve is a foul human being and has a baby on the way
adam is still bald and living in NH. he still enjoys naps, bacon, and keeping it real
alex lives in florida with his wife and child. he can play guitar better then anyone reading this.
i own and operate my own recording studio and pretty much suck at life.
hope that helps…..
Last I heard Shane ran away to Georgia with a group of dudes in search of the perfect party. Mr. Frisby has now become an active member of a Christian youth group that preaches a rather progressive form of western spiritualism using 80’s night clubs as the medium to seek out young new guys to worship with. He is easily contacted and available for any questions and can be found in the Cannae van looking out towards a world that has changed.
No one has heard from Collin since the group disbanded in 1998. inner circles of the Boston metal scene have reported he’s currently involved with a pyramid scheme targeting tweens selling stolen Tylenol PM’s. Mr Conway was last seen being arrested in the parking lot of a spin doctors show for selling boot leg copy’s of the Fortydaysrain / Year of Our Lord’s split while refusing to wear clothes. His Family and former friends beg anyone that is in communication with him to contact them immediately as they are deeply concerned for his decaying mental health and aggressive new criminal activity.
As of 2002 all other existing members have been reported either dead or in good health and do not wish to comment on the status of Cannae. Prosthetic Records have also failed to communicate any details about the bands mysterious behavior but have assured fans that the band will be joining up with heavy weights I killed the Prom Queen, and Miss May I for a midwest tour this winter. dates have yet to be announced.
