THE BEST UNSIGNED BAND I’VE HEARD THIS YEAR IS STILL CARNAL RAPTURE

Technically disqualified from my year-end list because their record came out in 2008… but damn, this Italian band is just plain awesome. I’ve been spinning Carnal Rapture’s 5-song demo pretty consistently on my iPod. Jazzy, techy, proggy, heavy, and most of all DIFFERENT metal… jam their song “Precious Time” below then listen to more on their MySpace page.

I would not say this is the best unsigned band I’ve ever heard. Not even close. I do, however, think it is damn good.
I agree with you David -they are not the best unsigned band. They are pretty technical though but sounds too much like a Primus Metal band for my liking -nothing against Primus they are awesome.

don’t know if they’re the best unsigned band that i’ve heard, but this is great stuff. different and fresh. i like how it says “Carnal Rapture (no blast beats death metal)” on their myspace page.
plus, the drummer is a beast, sounding like a combination of vinnie paul and mike portnoy.
make this my saturday band to get stoned to.
Yeah, this is good and the drummer is definitely pretty kick ass.

How does a band from Italy have a guitarist named Tom Hopewell? Oh well, anyway, the drums juxtaposed with the riffs are pretty fucking cool.

Surprisingly, this band is really similar to Intronaut.
After you wrote the first piece about them and their upside down CDs, I went and bought a copy from them. They put the CDs in the sleeves themselves and was even nice enough to include their 04′ promo with the 08′ one. Great listens
