ANOTHER TERRIBLE BAND FROM RUSSIA (OR, THE CASE OF THE STALIN ZOMBIES VS. THE BUSTY PROLETERIAT)

Norwegian reader Eirik Tiller (God Dag!) sent us the below video from the band ANJ. Now, I wanted to concentrate on some good Russian bands this week, but this video is too funny not to share. I mean, the band has to be in on the joke here, right? I can’t see anyone releasing this video and intending for it to be taken seriously.

Of course, even if ANJ do get how funny this is, that doesn’t change the fact that the music blows. But, hey, you can’t win ‘em all.

    Saw ANJ open for Yngwie last year and while the music is by no means groundbreaking or anything special, these guys put on one hell of an entertaining show

    Both the song and the video didn’t start that bad… really, it took about 30 seconds for the song (when the singer starts…singing(?)…) and 1 minute for the video (when the spartan(??) appears on the scene) to become something awful to me…

    Speaking of Russian bands, listen to Flymore… They sound a LOT like a very famous band. Check them out on youtube to find who they rip off…

    Hehe, no sorry, norwegian reader Eirik Tiller did not. After reading about two already terrible russian bands, they came to mind because I saw them at the Download Festival back in 2007. Soo terrible liveband, but yet soo entertaining live show, haha…

    A couple of my friends worked on this video… The backstory is that Anj is the vanity project of an extremely wealthy Russian guy, and he wrote a song about an obscure Russian folk hero. He soon realized the reference wouldn’t play in the states, so he switched out the folk hero for Gorbachev and called it a day.

    “I can’t see anyone releasing this video and intending for it to be taken seriously”. are you serious? the guy with the axe looks like Gorbachev, this is obviously supposed to be funny. it’s an awesome video. the song is horrible though.
