EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIER: PROTEST THE HERO – “LIMB FROM LIMB”

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009 at 10:30am by Vince Neilstein

Protest The Hero’s impromptu dance video — filmed last year when the band’s van broke down en route to Salt Lake City, UT — was such a viral hit that the band’s decided to parlay their sexy moves into an official music video for the track “Limb from Limb.” This is like what, their 5th or 6th official music video from the Fortress record? God bless the Canadian government and their music subsidies!

I’ve always liked videos in which the band members play roles in a storyline. In the “Limb from Limb” clip, a rag-tag group of Village People-like sailors (the band) led by Captain Rody Walker arrive at a port for a dance-off against a boat full of well-kempt metrosexual sailors. Ain’t nothin’ professional dancers got on the Protest boys! After trading off one righteous dance move after the next, the two teams unite in dancitude and all is right in the world.

  3. Lybrium says:

Man, I saw Protest this summer…It sucked. The guitars were one big muddy clump of shit and all the singer did was drink (he was the only one and would take like 5 minutes in-between every song to pour another drink backstage) and bitch about babies on planes…Thrice came on afterwards and ripped it up, yes, Thrice.

  11. Hey thanks for not putting a NSFW at the end of the tag, there’s enough bare guy ass to get me fired here! What the fuck guys?

  12. Absolutely amazing. I fucking love Protest The Hero, roll on London and Cardiff

  13. jacob says:

This is the greatest video ever. Am I the only one who enjoyed PTH live?

  14. Yeah I heard PTH sucked live, and I watched some youtube videos of them performing live, and they, indeed, seemed to suck pretty bad.

But then some friends and I went to see their headline tour in America last Spring and they fucking tore it UP.

Surprised the hell out of me. Maybe they were on their game that night?

  15. Jon L. says:

Protest do not suck live. I’ve seen them multiple times, they don’t keep the tempo exactly like the records because they aren’t machines. Metal in general sounds like noise in a lot of venues anyways unless you have like Andy Wallace behind the boards or something. Get back to us when you can pull off half the stuff these guys can, also this video was tits. Rule.

  16. Hilarious Video. Awesome band and song.

  17. Warren Gee says:

Very funny video. I’ve seen PTH live in San Diego not too long ago. They sounded very on point and did not suck live. However, the sound guy did suck because the guitars and mic levels were a little off at first. Yes, I agree. It’s time for a new album. Also, can anyone explain the mystery of why they never play Bone Marrow live? Is it a hard song to nail? Doesn’t seem that tech?

  18. groverXIII says:

That was hilariously gay. Definitely not your average metal video… and kudos to the band for that.

  19. TJ says:

I too was at the San Diego show and had a blast. Vocal levels were a bit off but everything else was 100%. Rody was pissed at The Devil Wears Prada after having just left a tour with them, and we sure can’t blame him for that! No drinking for sure– though I could have used a shot or two.

  20. tobytobiasjones says:

They kinda sorta took a dump on the epic-osity of the track. I really wish they would’ve taken it a bit more seriously… oh well.
