EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIER: PROTEST THE HERO – “LIMB FROM LIMB”

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009 at 10:30am by

Protest The Hero’s impromptu dance video — filmed last year when the band’s van broke down en route to Salt Lake City, UT — was such a viral hit that the band’s decided to parlay their sexy moves into an official music video for the track “Limb from Limb.” This is like what, their 5th or 6th official music video from the Fortress record? God bless the Canadian government and their music subsidies!

I’ve always liked videos in which the band members play roles in a storyline. In the “Limb from Limb” clip, a rag-tag group of Village People-like sailors (the band) led by Captain Rody Walker arrive at a port for a dance-off against a boat full of well-kempt metrosexual sailors. Ain’t nothin’ professional dancers got on the Protest boys! After trading off one righteous dance move after the next, the two teams unite in dancitude and all is right in the world.

  • Skanes

Seeing these guys on the 27th, can’t fucking waaaiiiitttt.

    • Lybrium

      hahah, oops, i hope it’s sweet man..hahaah…

  • Lybrium

Man, I saw Protest this summer…It sucked. The guitars were one big muddy clump of shit and all the singer did was drink (he was the only one and would take like 5 minutes in-between every song to pour another drink backstage) and bitch about babies on planes…Thrice came on afterwards and ripped it up, yes, Thrice.

    • Zoker

You were probably spaced out that night…

    • orbital

Agree. I saw them with BTBAM, KE and In Flames. One of the most boring bands I;ve recently seen and that dudes voice is like nails on a chalk board. hate.

      • Lybrium

No, I wasn’t the only one, and loads of us went the to see protest, the sound was intolerable. But, that might have been the crew’s fault, I really enjoy protest, but it was a disappointing show for everyone.

        • Lybrium

          there*

PTH is one of my Favs… The video was funny and I think all the bands has good and bad shows so… its unfair to jugde them for one or two bad shows… maybe it was the crew or them or both BUT I think they Have prove everyone what theyre capable of, Fortress is awesome and most of times they are awesome live so… quit bitching about them, If you dont like them dont Ok but Comment is not required to read this website….

    meh

  • jacob

This is the greatest video ever. Am I the only one who enjoyed PTH live?

    • http://www.facebook.com/jryantomes Ryan

      no, i enjoyed them live.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Christopher-Randish/10720102 Christopher Randish

Yeah I heard PTH sucked live, and I watched some youtube videos of them performing live, and they, indeed, seemed to suck pretty bad.

But then some friends and I went to see their headline tour in America last Spring and they fucking tore it UP.

Surprised the hell out of me. Maybe they were on their game that night?

  • http://infinitybasement.wordpress.com Jon L.

Protest do not suck live. I’ve seen them multiple times, they don’t keep the tempo exactly like the records because they aren’t machines. Metal in general sounds like noise in a lot of venues anyways unless you have like Andy Wallace behind the boards or something. Get back to us when you can pull off half the stuff these guys can, also this video was tits. Rule.

    • poopsmcgee

you’re the only one who makes sense.

Hilarious Video. Awesome band and song.

  • Warren Gee

Very funny video. I’ve seen PTH live in San Diego not too long ago. They sounded very on point and did not suck live. However, the sound guy did suck because the guitars and mic levels were a little off at first. Yes, I agree. It’s time for a new album. Also, can anyone explain the mystery of why they never play Bone Marrow live? Is it a hard song to nail? Doesn’t seem that tech?

  • http://www.last.fm/user/groverXIII groverXIII

That was hilariously gay. Definitely not your average metal video… and kudos to the band for that.

  • TJ

I too was at the San Diego show and had a blast. Vocal levels were a bit off but everything else was 100%. Rody was pissed at The Devil Wears Prada after having just left a tour with them, and we sure can’t blame him for that! No drinking for sure– though I could have used a shot or two.

  • tobytobiasjones

They kinda sorta took a dump on the epic-osity of the track. I really wish they would’ve taken it a bit more seriously… oh well.

  • parish420

there is no excuse for a band as famous as protest the hero to be fuckin up, little mistakes arent noticed but when fans notice there is really something wrong like they shouldnt be as famous as they are… look up Death none of there shows sounded like noise they had small mistakes but if anything usually played better live and thats because they were real musicians who were in it for the music not the money…they actually practised their music so they could play it they didnt have any excuses and their music was some of the most intricate metal music ever written.. bands like protest are what is ruining metal today for the aspiring talented musicians who CAN play their music live and it dont sound like mush but bands like this draw your attention away from that and say look at me and all the pretty lights these bands are made by the record companies to make money off you because you dont know any better than to find some better music than whats on much music or i tunes then lead you into believing thats how metal is supposed to sound like… if metal is supposed to sound like mush when its live and all i can ever listen to are the recordings if i want to hear the song the right way i dont want to listen to metal i would even agree with grandpa to turn that goddamn noise down i could go on all day but ill leave it at this…..when your payed to play music you should do it enough to be able to play your songs live if you dont agree with that then i dont know what to tell you.

  • SSR

How are they overrated? Do you see them on MTV? Do you see them get nominated for a Grammy? Do you see them being atop of the Billboard charts? I think they’re absolutely underrated.

    • BOO

I’ve seen them on MTV before but then again that was the canadian one
