So were pretty stoked about Hypocrisy’s upcoming U.S. tour with Children of Bodom’s Alexi Laiho playin the leed gee-tar, but then it looked like U.S. immigration might derail the whole thing. And now they have.

A very brief statement from the band reads:

“We regretfully have to officially announce the cancelation of our tour in North America. We’ve tried everything so far and it seems like the process will take longer than expected for one of the members in the band. We will try to come back as soon as possible, as we want to show our US fans that we care for them and we are ready to play the new songs live!”

The press release does not say if the other bands on the tour will continue without Hypocrisy, but since Ensiferum were technically the headliners, I’m assuming they are. Plus, the dates are still listed on Ensiferum’s MySpace page – but maybe they’ve just been too busy raping and pillaging to take ‘em down as of yet.

So, not much else to say… three cheers for red tape, I guess. Hopefully we can to see Hypocrisy – with or without Laiho – real soon.

We cant keep the mexicans that are commiting crimes and fucking up jobs out, but a member of a band is halted. Makes total sense.

Yes, this officially blows. I have tickets for tonight’s show at the Key Club in Hollywood specifically to see Hypocrisy and Mr. Laiho, but I will be going anyway and checking out Ensiferum. Now I like that song Deathbringer from the Sky, it’s catchy, but Ensiferum wasn’t the reason I bought the tickets at all. I am a die hard Bodom fan and was looking forward to seeing Alexi Laiho play with another band. (Mr. Laiho, by the way, likes my COBHC tattoo.)

Oh well, that’s the breaks. It’s still on!

You forgot to say that Lazarus A.D. is replacing Blackguard on this tour cause they got fucked by immigration too.

  4. Zoker says:

Ensiferum are still touring and that’s all you should need (and you have Blackguard too)…

Anyway, Tagtgren was the man to idolize, not Lahio… that’s the punishment of God for your mistake…

  5. kelfro says:

All they have to do is cross the Rio Grande, into Texas. Nobody will notice, or check their status, or really even care.

God Hates Us All, Mr. Zoker, God Hates Us All.

I like Lazarus AD, that’s cool with me.

I agree with Johnny. The border patrol can’t keep illegal immigrants in their own country but they can easily stop a band from Europe to enter North America? Ridiculous. Now personally I don’t listen to these kinds of bands but I hate how this stuff happens.

I think maybe its because bands from Europe go through the proper channels in coming to America… it’s a lot easier to exclude people when they ask your permission to come.

This is becoming more common and I’ve noticed it in trying to bring overseas acts to my city. There seems to be this rule that a band needs a certain amount of press to show immigration officials, whether reviews or write-ups or whathaveyou (not difficult to show for Metal bands given the five billion websites devoted to Metal) but the members of the band all have to have been in the band for at least a year. We had one act that experienced a line-up change a couple months before the tour and immigration wouldn’t let the new member through. I’m wondering if this had something to do with Laiho. It’s not “his” band and he’s a relatively new touring player with Hypocrisy. Might have been what tripped them up.

  9. systemsdown says:

Does anybody know if Hypocrisy is still going to play the Canadian dates???

  10. OK so some more dummies were unprofessional enough to not realize there was paperwork that needed to be done and let’s fault US Immigration because we are twats.

Was hoping someone would point this out.

Also, hilarious how racism shows up at the slightest chance. Bravo, USA, bravo…

I am pleased to report to you all that the concert was awesome. I had a great time watching Lazarus AD, Blackguard, and Ensiferum. They were all really high energy and sounded great. I stood right up next to the stage on the right side (if you’re in the audience), and rocked out. I smacked hands with the singer and one of the guitar players of Blackguard. Lazarus was way thrashy and good. Ensiferum was impressive and everyone wore kilts. I got some great photos. I had three rum and cokes. I am definitely more of a fan of Blackguard and Ensiferum now, and I’m glad I went.

Also, there was some band with corpsepaint makeup on, and they sucked. Fortunately they only played about four songs. That is all.
