“IT’S LIKE BLOODBATH MEETS THE FACELESS, OR THE FACELESS MINUS ALIENS”

Thursday, November 19th, 2009 at 11:00am by Vince Neilstein

So says MS reader Dan W. about the band Soreption in an incredibly stoned email he sent us last night. And I can’t disagree… that is exactly what Soreption sounds like! Thanks for doing my job for me, Dan. Since I had so much fun goofing off while Devin ran the site on Tuesday, maybe we’ll just go ahead and give Dan W. his own day too. My bong’ll be ready.

While we’re talking about prog/tech/death Readers’ Choice bands, I may as well throw a bone to Dismal Lapse who have been totally rocking my world this week. Says longtime reader / first time caller Ben Nope, “It’s really impressive stuff in the vein of Necrophagist or The Faceless, but most impressive is the fact that they are a three-piece and the drummer does the vocals.  Oh, and there’s an awesome new album that just came out called Eon Fragmentation.  Use your powers and MAKE IT KNOWN.” Consider it done, Ben.

The drummer is the volalist? Damn id love to see that live. He must look insane!

on a side note, i wonder how long it will be before some pretentios asshole posts a band who has a vocalist drummer who did it first and “better.” Taking bets now be fast cause u know its comin…

The faceless without the awesomeness and radness

  6. Dan Wolfson says:

well, dude, you can’t expect everyone to be on the same level as The Faceless. They’re just too bomb.

the faceless is classic of course, but i really like soreption. theres some meshuggah influence there too, they wear it more blatantly than the faceless does.

Their technical, but they can get down and groove, too. As someone whose waaay more into black metal than death metal, this gets my thumbs up of approval.

Damn, pretty nice. Perfect headline, by the way.
