KoRn is my favorite band, 5fdp is my second, and I love Hatebreed, and Rob Zombie would deffinately be awesome to see. I saw KoRn last year and it was an epic show. The only thing that would add to this excitement is if System Of A Down re-united and joined in as a headliner then Hatebreed goes to another stage. I missed both other mayhem fests but I sure as hell am not missing this one if this happens. Damn now I have my fingers crossed about SOAD re-uniting for this tour lol.

For an underground metal festival, this could work but that’s about it. If you want to sell tickets for a BIG summer festival your choices are weak. Other than LOG, NONE! of these bands cut it for the main stage. No way. This is about putting asses in the seats, and you know what bands do that? Mainstream bands. A reunited Korn? Yes. Rob Zombie? Yes. As much you hate it, 5FDP? Yes! Chimaira? No Meshugga? No. It’s the way of life my friend, you get it or you’ll be flipping burgers at McDonalds for the rest of your life. The Mayhem Fest organizers obviously get it.

Only two decent bands have played at Mayhem this year; only one of them was metal. Manson can put on a show, but his voice is busted practically beyond repair, and Slayer is just classic. I only went to the festival because I got in for free and wanted to see Marilyn Manson and Slayer. I’m glad I went as late as I did because I could have only imagined all the manchildren I would have had to wade through in order to find a place to sit. Seriously man, all the metalheads I have known have shit taste, even in metal. I think this can be backed up by the line ups they have at festivals like Mayhem, metal magazines, and even metalsucks. I know someone’s going to ask what sort of bands I listen to that are so much better than what metalfags like, so I will list: 1349, Negura Bunget, The Angelic Process, Jesu, Dissection, Taake, Kylesa, Giant Squid, Baroness, Silent Stream of Godless Elegy, Godflesh, Celtic Frost, Satyricon, Witch, Megadeth, and Black Sabbath to name a few.

maybe it’s just cuz i was never a korn fan, but it doesn’t seem to me that the old stuff is different than the new stuff, so the people who type ‘korn isn’t like they used to be’ should rephrase ‘i just don’t like korn like i did when i was in high school’

I saw the tour last year and I honestly enjoyed Manson. It was an all-around awesome day. But you’re right, other than Hatebreed and maybe Rob Zombie I’m not too psyched about the potential line-up here. I guess Shadows Fall would be alright if they were on one of the side stages…and Korn just sucks. They’re only good album was they’re dubut. Bands I’d like to see this year include Megadeth, Amon Amarth, The Faceless, Immortal, Revocation, because they have all recently put out new albums. But there’s still awhile until the official line-up is due so I’m content to play the waiting game until then.
