When we got an e-mail from reader Aaron Doenges claiming that Septicflesh’s song “Communion” was a rip-off of the old Meow Mix cat food jingle, our natural reaction was “What fucking drugs is this dude on?”

Then we listened to the song.

Holy shit.

In other news, I hear Rotting Christ are working on a metal version of the Doublemint Gum song.

    Hahaha! Wow, I’ll never be able to listen to this song again. The weird thing is, it actually sounds pretty sick within the song. I really would’ve thought that sounded cool had I not been looking for the Meow Mix theme song beforehand, I probably wouldn’t have noticed.

    That’s pretty crazy x_X I thought it was bad enough that it was the exact same tune as part of Cradle of Filth’s “Dusk and Her Embrace”. The part begins at 2:23, it’s exactly the same.

    Not that i’m complaining, I saw Septicflesh with Cradle last december and it still remains the best night of my life thus far.

Whatever your opinion about Septicflesh and the resemblance of this tune it is faaaaaaaaaar fetched to claim rip-off even as a joke, if you consider that you are talking about a Greek band and a US catfood commerial. And now this song is ruined for me. Thanks a lot metasucks!!!!
