One last post before we send off for the holiday… our inboxes are blowing up with links to http://www.ronniejamesdio.com/, which is reporting that Ronnie James Dio has stomach cancer. From Wendy Dio:
Ronnie has been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. We are starting treatment immediately at the Mayo Clinic. After he kills this dragon, Ronnie will be back on stage, where he belongs, doing what he loves best, performing for his fans.
Thanks to all the friends and fans around the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up.
The above note implies that because they caught the cancer relatively early, a full recovery is likely. Let’s hope. Ronnie’s a helluva guy and a helluva singer, and we wish him all the best in a speedy recovery.

Get well soon Ronnie…seriously one of the nicest guys in music, had the pleasure of meeting him at a signing after a show a few years back. Even though a ton of people were in line he made it a point to say something to everybody that came through.

I wish the best for this guy, as you know good well being for all mankind sorta way but I sit in the small numbers of Sabbath fans who believe this guy ruined the name of Black Sabbath. They should changed the name of the band to Heaven And Hell back then.
Eh, I prefer the Ozzy era material too tbh, even though Dio is far and away the better singer. Depends why you liked them in the first place I guess, I always liked the stoner/doom elements of Sabbath with Ozzy. Sabbath with Dio was great IMO, as is a lot of Dio’s material, but it wasn’t Sabbath anymore, it was Sabbath backing Dio.

Oh man…I lost my grandmother to stomach cancer, so this one hits home. He’s got a long, hard fight ahead of him, but if they caught it early, he’s got a good chance. All the best to Ronnie and his family…and a blessed Thanksgiving to all.

I hope he ends up being okay. I met him when Heaven & Hell played at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ back in August. One of the nicest guys I’ve ever met.

Nicest metal guy I ever met. Shook my hand, gave me a dude hug. My bro was joking that Dio was getting gay on me. Joke was on him when the bar next to our hotel room turned out to be a gay bar and while we were drinking after the show, he was like, ‘Dude check out that chick on the dancefloor’. ‘That’s no chick’, says I, ‘too much adam’s apple’. But I digress. Dio up close is no spring chicken. More like close-to-grandpa-age. I wish him the best and speedy recovery.

It goes without saying that he is a true legend of hard rock music! To be able to have the vocal range and power after all these years is amazing!!! I wish!! i have been a huge fan of “black sabbath” when i heard the news about dio earlier today i was shocked about his condition all we can do is pray for the him that way he rock the stage once again! hes a bad ass singer besides” ozzy” blessings to you ronnie a big fan much love, yvette from los angeles…
