SATURDAY BAND TO FAWK GUYS TO: SiiiiiiiiiiKTH
Saturday, November 28th, 2009 at 1:09pm by Kip WingerschmidtI assume that the majority of you are all eaten out (!) after your many respective turkey (or tofurkey) fests…
But do any of you actually know the real origin of how Thansgiving got its moniker?
A long time ago, when the Pilgrams were raping and pillaging dem poor Injuns, a boorish chap by the name of William Sanford exclaimed (mid-plunder) to a trembling Native American farmer: “THANKS FER GIVIN US ALL YER LAND, RED MAN!!!!!!!!!!!”
And thus, not only was the name you now know to be Thanksgiving bestowed upon the holiday whence we sit down to stuff our faces with delicious bounty (much like the plethora of food those wacky Pilgrams stole from the Indians)………….but also, the rapper Redman got his name.
ENOUGH ABOUT AMERICA……….it’s time to revere an old favorite — unfortunately one of my 72 hard drives recently futzed out, so I can’t post any tracks per se, but you can go here or here to witness the awesome majesty that was (sad face) UK melodo-tech-mastermindzzz Sikth.
THE BRITISH ARE COMING, THE BRITISH ARE COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually thanksgiving was instituted by Abraham LIncoln to give thanks for the end of the civil war. It was changed to what it is today like 100 years later.
you need a sense of humor dude. we don’t care about truth!
If you have Sikth files you can send get at me. trying to get that Bland Street on the pod
if all goes well, my copy of Death of a Dead Day should still be in storage back east. hope so. never owned The Trees but have it on the comp of course. Pretty awesome band to listen to, never got way to in to them though…then they split.
Thanks Kip!
One of the best bands you guys have mentioned since I started coming to the site.
Such a great band. Pretty sad that they broke up.
i fucking hate this band
This band is fucking overrated as hell.
Your face is overrated.
I had the pleasure of seeing Sikth a number of times, they were one of the best (live) metal bands in the UK. They supported Dillinger Escape Plan and Mad Capsule Markets, I think. Trees… is a cracking album. Unfortunately they split after the two vocalists decided to do persue othe projects – music production and spoken word.
I hope the rest of the band carry on making music.
With the exception of James they’re actually all in other projects. Justin and Dan Weller are in Minutes, Pin is in Within the Void, Mike is in The Painted Smiles, and Dan Foord is in Perceval Gage.
I still want them to get back together though. >_O
I will never be able to listen to death of a dead day enough. One of the best albums of the last decade.
i still hope they’ll get together in the future so ill see them live
best uk band since carcass
Jesus, get a grip. Akercocke, Meads of Asphodel, Mithras and Twin Zero, for that matter, shit all over them.
I first heard these guys when I was your run-of-the-mill mallcore kid. I’d be the first to tell you that I had the same music tastes as the average Hot Topic dweller (I never fell for deathcore, at least), and even then Sikth just annoyed the fuck out of me.
They still annoyed me just as much when I gave them another try not too long ago. And I’ve heard metal albums with such technicality that Sikth never stood a chance with me, most notably Lykathea Aflame’s Elvenefris.
This isn’t even news.
It is the coolest site, keep so!
Pretty sure the drummer played for ‘Ted Maul’ for a while.
72 hard drives?
Loadsaporn?
this makes me want to go see septicflesh instead of devin townsend [he is getting a short set...]
