VARG LIKES TO PARTY HARD

Monday, December 7th, 2009 at 1:00pm by

So on Friday night on friend Sergeant D. at Metal Inquisition got wasted and made the below tribute to Burzum and Varg Vikernes. Now, I can already sense that some of you are going to bitch that this isn’t that funny, and, in truth, the idea is pretty simple – but there’s something about the mixing of the music with the pictures and, of course, the context, that just makes me giggle every time I watch this…

And while we’re on the topic of Sergeant D., please allow me to work in this shameless plug: the dude designed this awesome t-shirt for us. Why don’t you show some love and buy one?

Speaking of Vargina Vikernes and awesome shirts. I REALLY think it would be a fantastic idea to make a shirt with the picture you guys had of Varg holding the cat. I’ll fucking buy 5!!!!!!!

    • Noel

i second that. id actually buy it. for seriuos.

    • Beereded

Or even the cum-catcher beard pic with that caption on a shirt. That was hilarious.

  • Biff Tannen

In order for these types of things to be funny, I think the music needs to fit/be edited with the pics correctly for some sort of impact. This failed on both counts.

BTW, his personal politics/flip flopping aside, this man has accomplished done much more than any of you fuckers ever will. Considering he spent nearly half his life in prison, thats quite a lot to do with such a short time under the sun.

    • http://stuffyouwillhate.com Sergeant D

I thought it was funnier for it to be half-assed/badly edited. The whole “worse is better” thing.

      • Biff Tannen

hmm.I didn’t take the ‘worse is better’ theory into account. I shall watch it again.

…. nope. Would’ve been much better if the music somehow fit with the images.

        • Jacob

‘Worse is better’ seems to be Varg’s musical mission statement, isn’t it?
I’ll be honest I’ve never listened to his music, because I’m a Jew (secular, I’m an atheist), and he’s a racist/anti-Semitic fuckhead, so I’m NOT talking about the quality of it (although as I’m not a fan of black metal for the most part I’d be surprised if I had listened to his stuff I wouldn’t say that), I’m just referring to the whole ‘super-shitty-microphone-craptastic-recordings=awesome great sound’ thing.

      Personal accomplishments:

      1. Forming Burzum
      2. Releasing four albums under the moniker
      3. Violently murder someone
      4. Burn churches
      5. Go to jail

Wow, I REALLY hope to accomplish nearly as much as this guy has. What a person to aspire to be like!

The best part about your comment is, some douchebags actually think like that, and aren’t sarcastic!

      • Canvas Of Flesh

        Six albums and an EP.

      • Biff Tannen

Form Burzum- The man was the originator of the one man band.

Releasing 4 albums under the moniker (actually, six) – well, the early Burzum albums are all HIGHLY influential (regardless of what you think of them), they are all regarded as classics in their genre. Have you done this?

Violently mudering someone- You know how we all say, at some point in life (or the day) “Im going to fucking kill that guy”…well, he actually did it. Not the smartest thing to do, and I, personally wouldn’t do it, but you can’t say Varg doesn’t have balls.

Burn churches- I completely agree with these actions. Sure, they don’t accomplish much, and usually make the congregation stronger (at least for the time being)…but as a symbollic gesture, it is HUGE. At least the guy had the guts and the conviction do follow something through that he felt so stongly about…. have you ever followed something through on this large of a scale?

Go to jail- Yeah…thats where his decisions landed him. But, while in jail he produced two recordings (that I don’t think are very good, but some people do). He also published multiple books/essays (again, I don’t necessarily agree with his views). I’ve never published a book, let alone multiple books….have YOU ?

Sure seems like a lot for a single man to have done this early in life.

Agree with Varg or not, the man gets shit done.

        • msv81

Your little rant sounds like a speech that Hitler youth would get in the Third Reich. You seem to respect this guy for “having the balls” to murder someone in cold blood while also agreeing with the concept of burning churches as a symbolic gesture?

For fuck’s sake….maybe you should put away the metal albums and listen to some more mellow stuff now and again, I think you’re a little too angry.

          • Biff Tannen

MSV- I am not generally an ‘angry’ person. Im quite laid back and very easy to get along with. I listen to quite a bit of mellow music, so you are off the mark there.

Again, I said that I wouldn’t kill someone like that. I was not defending his actions. All I was saying is that the man HAS done quite a lot (good and bad) in his short years on this earth, half of which were spent in prison. He has already done much more than the majority of people will accomplish in their entire lives.

          • Biff Tannen

I can’t believe it only took you two posts to make a Hitler analogy. Thats pretty bad, even for internet debating standards.

Argument Ad Hitlerum = you lose.

        • rachel

Do you get your writing tips from Voltaire? I think your’e serious, but I can’t tell, and I hope you aren’t. Come on, man, burning churches isn’t cool. I agree with msv81, and think you need a time out or a nap until you can behave yourself.

          • Biff Tannen

Rachel- In what possible way is burning a church not a good thing?? Please, give some reasons for this, then I will give you my reasons why Im glad it has been done, and will continue to be done.

          • jason

Unfortunately, many churches throughout Europe, besides being amazing architectural examples, are one of the few links that we have to understand past cultures. Destroying them, regardless of what they stand for is ignorant and short-sighted. I see no difference between that and Hussein blowing up ancient Buddhist temples.

  • BlakMetallistKrieg

I love how Varg has denounced Venom in the press before, yet he is shown here wearing a venom shirt…

I love Burzum, but geez, this guy just can’t go a day without contradicting himself somehow.

    • Biff Tannen

he claims that he wore the Venom shirt just because of the words ‘black metal’ on it, which he was deeply involved with at the time.

        Word up.

  • Ziltoid

Unfunny in every way, shape, and form. And I think that Varg is an asshole, regardless of his musical merits.

  • iolanach

I thought it was funny. But i actually like that song, so what the hell do i know…

AND i’m one of the assholes that’s actually waiting for “The White God”, or whatever the fuck it’s called, with some anticipation.

    Biff-

How could church burning possibly a decision ever considered socially acceptable? Although I have opened up the disscussion of what is socially acceptable and not socially acceptable, church burnings aren’t good for a number of reasons. First of all, it is likely the person buring it does not own it, so it is destroying something that is not their’s. Second of all, why can’t Varg just ignore the existance of Christianity if he hates it so much? It is like in elementary school when the little nerdy kid keeps being bullied, even though the nerd is minding his own business. Varg can be a Satanist or whatever and that is fine, but a church burning is un-called for. Let Christians be happy Christians and Satanists be happy Satanists. Lastly, he got sent to jail for doing it and call me crazy, but I would rather not be sent to jail over something like that.

    • rachel

Besides, God wouldn’t burn down your house lol.

    • val

Christians used to burn/kill/torture all people that didnt agree with them.
Burning churches may not be the right answer, but at least it’s harmless (assuming they are empty).

      • Biff Tannen

Exactly , Val. Christianity is a plague on mankind. Any efforty to to destroy what it holds sacred is fine by me. Personally. I’m not going to do it because I don’t want to go to prison, but if someone else wants to…fine by me.

Rachel- also, churches (in the U.S.) don’t pay taxes…so who does? That’s right, ME ! So, technically, I DO own a bit of them

        • rachel

You have a point, I must admit that in the past and present, we have Jesus Supremists who do have persecuted others, but there are also good (but rare) ones who are not that way. Val is right to say that church burnings are not the answer; that is a good way of putting it.

Congrats to Varg for getting that part in Inglourious Basterds. Jew Hunter FTW.

Are you trying to say that Christianity minds it’s own business ???? !!!!
