TIME FOR A NEW GOD FORBID ALBUM ALREADY? SWEEEEEET…

Yesterday God Forbid announced that they’ll be playing a very special show on January 9 at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ. Now, Dingbatz only holds about two-hundred people and advance tickets to the show are a whopping twelve bucks, so this is pretty cool in and of itself. But even cooler for those of us who can’t attend the show is the opening sentence from the announcement:

God Forbid has decided to take a break from writing the new album to play an exclusive one-off headline gig at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ on Saturday Jan 9th.

So it would seem that, less than a year after the release of Earthsblood, God Forbid are hard at work on their next record. Which is great news! It was an unbearable four years in-between the release of the band’s last album, IV: Constitution of Treason, and Earthsblood, and even though it ended up being well worth the wait, having another new offering from GF before 2013 (or 2012 or hopefully 2011) would be awesome.

Still no word on who’s gonna step in for Dallas Coyle. Of course it’s always possible that God Forbid go The Red Chord route and become a four piece, or that Doc Coyle plays all the guitars on the album and the band then just recruits a touring guitarist, but I suspect someone will end up in that second guitar slot sooner or later…

You can buy tickets for the Dingbatz show here. I’ve literally never seen God Forbid play a bad show, so it should be a killer time.

    That tattoo blows asshole

It’s a very poorly done uhhh, rendition of a Clive Barker designed Tortured Souls character.

  • metalguy

I was unaware the Flood are God Forbid fans

    • http://verbalspace.blogspot.com verbal space

im unaware anybody is a god forbid fan…

    • The Overmatt

Actually that’s Nosferatu from Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Why it’s part of a God Forbid tattoo I haven’t the foggiest.

      • Beereded

Doesn’t God Forbid have a song called “Nosferatu?”

  • Piero

When I saw this tat, I thought the Worst Tattoo Ever column was back again

  • Elpants

Oh great, I guess it’s that time of year where every other blogpost is about the same shitty band.

hey look it’s everyone who’s jealous that god forbid is better than them cause their songs are more memorable and catchy than their favorite tr00 band. “oo boo hooo, god forbid is metalcore. slayer is soooo good. we play as fast as we can and make everything sound like one big mess so the whole set sounds like one long song. but not in the good BTBAM Colors type way. in the, we’re an over the hill band who’s no longer relevant but still tour casue we hardcore and need the money type way.”

    • Glorious Johnson

“god forbid is better than them cause their songs are more memorable and catchy than their favorite tr00 band”

ive seen them twice and couldnt tell you a song they played. very yawn worthy.

    • stu1

Yeah dude, hate to break this to you, but their songs are not very memorable or catchy. I don’t have an issue with their sound, and on paper, would be into this band. However, they’re just not all that good.

    • cosk!

what the fuck are you talking about? i dont think the bands i like are “tr00″ or whatever, i listen to goria and meshuggah, djent shit ya dig? im just tired of everyone defending their favorite band by putting other people in a sterreotype.

      • Me

haha. i’ll just take any opportunity to make fun of slayer. in fact, I actually like slayer to a certain extent. I just think they are way overrated and I don’t enjoy their bandwagon effect, so it makes me vent. exaggeration is fun sometimes. I dropped the tr00 line to incite further ostracism of my presence in this here blogosphere. but yeah, I am a god forbid fan, so that part is true.

    • Damotello

      Obvious troll is obvious.

  • Nemesis

If any of you dipshits bothered to listen to God Forbid, you would notice that they are not metalcore. And, IMO, they are awesome live…tons of energy, and they are great at engaging the crowd.

    • El Peras

I don’t think they’re metalcore, and I guess most of us here admit they are pretty good musicians and that they have an excellent energy live. However it’s all about the goddamn song…and I don’t know…it seems like the guys know all the theory to make a good album but somehow they haven’t been able to assemble an awesome one yet.

Oh…and I also thought this pic belonged to the “worst tatto ever” section.

      Peace

      • stu1

Completely agree. I think you could call them metalcore, however. But regardless, they’re great players, great energy, seem like good dudes, but don’t have any songs at all.

    Next record title?

The Hype Machine? Are you referring to the online music and blog aggregrator of the same name?

I have seen godforbid a number of times over the past many years now. Saw them when they were just one of the local bands opening from virtually unkown bands playing in front of 20 people. They put on a good show they are a good band, but nothing amazing. And by the way Dingbatz doesn’t hold 200 people been there a handful of times, you are lucky to get 100 people in there. I don’t see anywhere on the website where you can buy tickets other then going to the venue though.

  • Doc Coyle

Damn…dudes are still butt hurt about Metalsucks liking our album. Kinda funny. Anyway, the presale is up http://www.dingbatznj.com

    • Luke

Doc you guys are amazing and talented keep it up man, ive been a big fan since Gone Forever and im from Niagara Falls Ontario a small shit town with no good local bands but i seen u guys for the first time open for L.O.G. at the Ricoh colliseum awesome show u set a great tone for the rest of that night thanx

I still haven’t actually listened to Earthsblood, which I probably should seeing’s how it was regarded so highly on this site. But I thought End Of The World was a pretty cool song.
Also I quite like To The Fallen Hero.
