ZILTOID FAVES IRON THRONES ARE IN THE STUDIO
Thursday, December 10th, 2009 at 11:15am by Vince NeilsteinIron Thrones, an awesome band who Ziltoid first brought to our attention on The Great Ziltoid Day ‘09, are currently in the studio working on the follow-up to their debut release Visions of Light. MS uber-maniac \m/Eluveitie\m/ brought to our attention the fact that the band are releasing videos from their writing and recording sessions… and for once, the videos are actually interesting.
Check out this short jam of a potential new song. Sure, the performance is a bit rough, but does it not sound fucking great anyway?
You can follow Iron Thrones’ YouTube updates here. Also be sure to check out Visions of Light, which is available as a free stream or pay-what-you-like download here. Iron Thrones are looking for a second guitarist… so if any of you shredders out there are from Minneapolis, get on that!
After the jump, another bad-ass studio jam session.

That’s what I’m talking about! I ‘preciate it and I’m sure the boys from Iron Thrones do too.
As flattered as I am at the mere mentioning of my great name, I made it clear on The Great Ziltoid Day ‘09 that grover XIII mentioned these guys a few times on here. I found out about them through him, so give him credit.
really digging this, any other progressive/death metal reccomendations? i love the mix of beautiful and brutal
Thanks for the credit, Zilty. You’re not all bad. :D
Bands doing jam sessions is a dieing art that can really produce some of the greatest music ever created by mankind. I really appreciate a band that is willing to just jump into a song with one or two riffs and nothing else and make go for as long as possible. Iron Thrones just gained a bunch of cred from me.
Also that first jam session is really freakin’ technical and some of those stutter steps near the end blew my mind. This record sounds amazing already. Also, too bad we couldn’t hear the vocals on that one.
Just downloaded Visions of Light. This is great.
I’ve known these bros for years from previous tours, good to see they’re getting a bit of exposure on here!
Sounds to me like it’s a good thing the vocalist was overpowered by the instrumental stuff. Anytime you mix a singer that looks like that with music like this, the result is predictably subpar…
(Music is good though…)
Ok, for one thing he wasn’t over-powered. they took out the vocal track as to not give too much away, as these videos are meant to be “sneak peeks”.
Secondly, basing your opnion on looks makes you sound like a complete idiot. Use your ears and check their shit out, he has an incredibly large and powerful voice. Kind of like a mix of Tommy of BTBAM and the guy from Cult of Luna.
Grow up.
Ziltoid, Grover, Elly and Vinnie all agreeing on the same band. Wow. Had to check my calendar to make sure it’s not April 1st.
It happens more than you think, I’d wager… except that those bands are usually pre-empted for the latest news on Dave Mustaine’s bowel movements, videos where some kid makes an ass of himself trying to perform vocals, and Gary Suare’s ramblings about Chris Cornell or some horrendous post-sludge-hardcore-noise-rock band.
\m/ hell yes! hell yess! hell yes! Three cheers for MPLS metal! ;) Great band. I caught them at Uptown bar not too long ago w/ Overmars they had an incredibly solid live set.. in fact, i’ve got some video of it posted here: http://vimeo.com/6309696
I’ve been following these guys on Facebook for a while. Really cool shit!
Just want to remind people that its the last week of voting for the “No Label Needed Contest”
All votes help and we REALLY appreciate it. Thanks
