SATURDAY SONG TO NAIL SHIKSAS TO: SOUNDGARDEN — “JESUS CHRIST POSE”

Saturday, December 26th, 2009 at 1:13pm by Kip Wingerschmidt

jesus-thumps-up1What’s the big flippin deal bout Jesus? Moses died for your sins too…

The real spirit of this Hallmark holiday is in kindess and doing good and blah blah blah and other nice shiz……so I’m going to do Chris Cornell a favor and remind him that Soundgarden should reunite before they get way too old and forget how to play such rippin classics like this one.

And you’re staring at me like I, I need to be saved?

SOUNDGARDEN — “Jesus Christ Pose” from Badmotorfinger (1991)

{two little-known trivia tidbits: 1) Soundgarden got their name from a wind-channeling pipe sculpture in Seattle entitled “A Sound Garden” and 2) Chris Cornell originally played drums and sang at the same time, whoa! More Soundgarden mp3s here.}

completely non-metal bonus song to chillax to:

TORTOISE — “In Sarah, Mencken, Christ And Beethoven There Were Women And Men” from TNT (1998)

{hopefully the dulcet tones of Tortoise will quell the darkest among us……Happy Jew Year!!}

    Tortoise is a great band. I love putting their stuff on when I am reading. writing, or trying to sleep.

    Seriously Tortoise are so fucking good they should be illegal.

  • Me says:

    I got into an argument with this Pro-Life person about abortion and she said, ‘Well, Ryan, what if Jesus had been an abortion?’ (pause) ‘Well… then… he would have died for our sins… sooner?’”

    “AHH YOU STARE AT ME IN YOUR JESUS CHRIST POSE…” Chris may be the biggest, douchiest guy in the world, but holy hell, hes got a voice.

  • Nick says:

    Tortoise ftw

  • Aleezy says:

    Unless the current trend subsides, there’s NO WAY Soundgarden will resist reunion fever. Actually, shit, I wonder what’s presently in the way of that…pride? money? family? Chris Cornell’s whirlwind solo career that’s so successful fans are demanding a complete re-imagining of his latest record? Let’s hope there’s no hurdle too high for those four because damn, I’d like another chance to catch that band live.

    Great Jesus joke above, btw.

  • I killed a Dunky says:

    I hardly believe that Chris Cornell can pich that tone of voice nowdays.. I downloaded the DVD from Audio Slave in Cuba and he sounded tired singing his own songs.. now I woul love a Soundgarden reunion to hear the new tunes they are going to come with nowdays. Just my $1.00 dollar

  • Adam says:

    1990′s Chris Cornell needs to come back and kick the living crap out of the 2009 version of himself.

  • Chrispy Biscuit says:

    There are already press reports that the Soundgarden reunion will happen in 2010. Finally.
