Here’s the new video for Dying Fetus’ “Your Treachery Will Die With You,” from their album Descend Into Depravity.

The short version is this: great band (with a KILLER live show), great song, great album, boring video.

Oh well. You should check out Descend Into Depravity, which is out now on Relapse.

just listen to those triggers go! fuck this band

  • Andy Synn

Bad choices of triggers are definitely a sufficient reason to fuck a band, right?

    • chris

yes they are. triggers are for drummers who don’t have the talent to actually play what they wrote. you barely even have to move your fucking foot to get a booming, giant sound out of the bass drum. fuck triggers, fuck dying fetus.

      • d00shc00gr

fuck you, too. By the same logic, any guitar player who uses distortion is just “hiding the fact that he can’t fucking play what he wrote. Fuck them and fuck every band you listen to.”

        • http://hookinmouth.net Hookinmouth.net

“By the same logic, any guitar player who uses distortion is just “hiding the fact that he can’t fucking play what he wrote”

There is no logic in that at all. Triggers and distortion are two totally different things and the only way they can be compared to each other is as an enhancement of tone. I could honestly give a shit about triggers because double bass is often overused to the point where that is all you hear and it becomes a bit redundant just like a Wah pedal.

        • chris

no dipshit, that is not the same logic. when a guitarist uses distortion he still has to hit the strings with the same intensity as without distortion to be heard. drum triggers enable a drummer to lightly tap the pedal in order to achieve a huge booming sound. educate yourself before you talk shit.

really? you’re going to use the guy from daath’s argument on triggers. daath is a terrible fucking band and i have no clue why this site gives them so much undeserved press.

          • SonOF

So Daath AND DF are bad, and untalented? Give me a break.

Go see DF live and tell me the drummer isn’t skilled. They rip.

          • SonOF

chris: you don’t want people to respect Eyal from Daath’s opinion on drum triggers; instead we should trust or respect yours? He is a verifiably good metal musician in a band that many people in the metal community like and/or respect (except you for some strange reason), and you are….?

      • builtforsin

        This again!?

This community has already decided that triggers/active pickups is in no way able to help a musician play better/faster. Simply a different element to the songs.

Yea, I think they are wrong too! But im just a guy who actually appreciates musicians.

        • Andy Synn

I actually didn’t intend to bring about the whole triggering debate again (on this point – my main experiences has been that trigger’s AREN’T a crutch, as they actually expose bad playing by making your off-timed kicks that much more noticeable – however – my main complaint is the use of them to alter the SOUND of your kit so it sounds too artificial. This video is a key example of that. I believe the drummer, and probably most of the drummers who get shit for using triggers, are still very talented, but have made a bad choice as to the artificial nature of their sound…

Oh, quick anecdote, a friend of mine, very talented drummer, is studying under the drummer from Sikth – who I don’t really like but do respect – and asked said drummer about triggers. He replied that he used to play with an entirely triggered kit… because they couldn’t rely on sound guys and times for sound-checks etc, so after sorting out the samples used to enchance the sound, making sure they were realistic and representative of what a good kit should sound like, he could simply give the sound guy his DI cable and play with a good sound no matter the standard of the venue/sound guy…)

Anyway, my main point was that once again, knee-jerk reaction “fuck this… fuck that… fuck you…” etc, is not exactly stimulating discussion is it?

          • chris

i explained my point before the “fuck triggers, fuck dying fetus”. learn how to read

          • Andy Synn

Chris is an angry person. I wonder what triggers have done to him prior to this.

          • SonOF

            Andy: +100

Chris: I’m not a tech nerd, so personally I could give two shits how a band is creating the sound they create. If it sounds good, and a band puts everything they have into a quality live show, I’m happy. Meshuggah uses a computer program to create a lot of the drum sounds, does that mean Tomas Haake sucks as well?

And just curious, if DF sucks, and Daath sucks (and are, according to you, wildly overrated…while most people consider both very technically proficient bands), who, may I ask, is worthy of your approval (I’m sure it’s some amazingly obscure garbage)?

Man, nothing I hate more than a jaded, whiny musican (typically unsuccessful) that criticizes and generally hates 98% of music that isn’t his own. You can usually see the type at shows, a cloud of negativity around them, mumbling under their breath to anyone that will listen about how a particular musician is screwing up on stage, while the rest of the crowd is having a great time and enjoying themselves.

          • Andy Synn

Just to play devil’s advocate, not caring about where the sound of a band comes from is also a slippery slope, as you can end up having entirely digitized sounds bereft of human input/emotion/feeling.

Although I still think there is an old truism that no matter how good the artificial methods used become a true musician will still be of a superior breed and can use the new technology better than someone who is attempting to use it to make up for their own short-comings.

          • SonOF

Andy: I agree with your comments (and agree that not caring how music is made IS a bit of a slippery slope), especially this:

“Although I still think there is an old truism that no matter how good the artificial methods used become a true musician will still be of a superior breed and can use the new technology better than someone who is attempting to use it to make up for their own short-comings.”

The song is called “Your Treachery Will DIE WITH You”

    • Sambo

I think they were just making a joke out of it. :)

  • d00shc00gr

Who knows? Maybe their bus broke down on the way to the video shoot and they just did it on the fly in some abandoned warehouse. Isn’t that why the video for “Kill your Mother Rape your Dog” just the guys and their instruments standing around the van on the side of the road?

  • Moyles

I could care less about the triggered drums.. its metal not the Olympics. The much improved guitar tone actually makes me want to pay attention to them now though..

  • builtforsin

Same exact video they always make, them shredding, just in a different setting

    see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVJxCLcU6Wc

Anyway, love me some Dying Fetus! The bassists sweeps in the video I linked too!

I know he is not the only one that can do it dicks…just looks sweet!

  • !?!

That dude looks like a weener.

  • John

Who cares about triggered drums when the vocals sound so fucking stupid?

    • zack

yeah, i found it really fucking funny.

    • SonOF

Excuse me, DF practically invented “stupid fucking vocals,” so give credit where it is due.

  • the benthic

I just saw the dying fetus faceless cattle decap show in so Cal and after orgasming to cattle (if you haven’t seen them live your fucking retarded) dying fetus came on and while watching them load gear me and the homies were watching to see what kind of peddles he used you know dws or axis just curious and to our surprise we all couldve sworn we saw him using doulist peddles to which we were very disappointed I’m not going to make the claim of cheater yet but if anyone knows what peddles he uses tell me please they’re not doulists please????

  • Baldish

Bass sweeping! I saw this on myspace yesterday. The bass follows the guitar during the solo\m/

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Keith-Brown/537636633 Keith Brown

I noticed that a lot of their songs all have the same formula:

1: everyone comes in with a riff you’ll never hear again

2: guitar comes in with some widdly-widdly

3: bass and drums join in with the widdly widdly

4: people jizz over bassist who sweeps and taps (as if Billy Sheehan never existed)

5: groovy riff makes me bang my head at my computer (prompting strange looks from my sister or whoever I happen to be sitting next to at my college’s computer lab)

6: more widdly widdly (I happen to enjoy most shreddy guitars, so I consider this to be a good thing)

    7: even groovier riff

8: more triggering than a gun store

9: fat bald guy does growls that sound like my stomach when I miss a meal

    10: sudden ending

It’s like they beat six feet under at their own game. I’d like to take this moment now to get you all to consider Dying Fetus the ACDC of death metal, please.

    • Andy Synn

That DOES describe DF remarkably well… still good though…

I do prefer Misery Index though, just I think because of their particular ‘style’ of song.

Now… who will be the first to tell me to “fuck myself” for liking a band. Anyone?

PS – I liked Daath’s last album too. Not so much the previous one though.

      • chris

fuck yourself, daath sucks. you like shitty music, kill yourself, bitch.

        • Andy Synn

          I tried.

          I even failed at that.

          • Dwarfskeet

I like Dying Fetus, Daath and Misery Index… Just sayin’…

          • Andy Synn

Go fuck yourself… for, y’know… sharing a similar music taste to me… and stuff….

    • SonOF

Unlike ACDC though, DF’s stuff is pretty damn complicated, and even if they only make one repeated song, at least it is an interesting one.

Man, I thought trying to prove how cool you are by slagging bands you don’t like went out of style in 2002.

I don’t mean to be obvious, but I like triggers because they make really fast shit sound totally heavy. I bet that’s why bands use them. I get the impression some people think that proclaiming they don’t like triggers makes them sound smart. Fine – you people who feel compelled to tell everyone you don’t like triggers, you’re better than the rest of us, m’kay? Seriously, you win. I admire your lofty standards, and one day I hope to develop such refined tastes.

Now I’m going to go listen to some heavy fast shit because I like heavy fast shit…

  • tc7005

I saw them live too and they did have a killer show. I think I care more about how it sounds than how you achieve that sound. These guys are better than you think, and they deserve some respect!

    • tc7005

…even if the video is boring.
