AXL IS ENTHRONED

enthroned

Never been an Enthroned fan, never been an Enthroned hater. Black metal was most certainly the last sub-genre of metal I got into (unless you count nu-rap-whatever-metal, because I never actually got into that), mostly because I always felt like if you wore make-up on stage, you should be singing about pussy, not Satan. But it’s 2o10 and my New Year’s resolutions include going to the gym more, getting Sacha the Death Metal Puppy to stop being such a little evil bastard, and spending more time blogging about bands that have never had Dave Mustaine in their line-up.

So while word of the streaming of a new Enthroned song, “The Vitalized Shell,” didn’t instantly get my blood pumping, I know it will excite a lot of you. It comes of the band’s new album, Pentagrammaton, which comes out March 22 on Regain.

And, hey!, ya know what? I’m actually really digging it. And I can’t really understand what Nornagest (who is Cronos’ cousin… really?) is saying, so for all I know, the song is about pussy.

I pretty much stopped listening to Black Metal altogether. Some of it is pretty good, but the corpse paint, pentagrams and satanic imagery/lyrics mixed with repetitive blast beats and stale guitar riffs have turned me off from it. Plus I find it extremely cheesy. But I guess BM pretty much caters to a younger more impressionable crowd, where I’ve barely ever seen a fan of the genre over the age of 20. So here’s hoping that something in 2010 will reinvent Black Metal!

I love black metal and am over the age of twenty. And find it to be a rapidly progressing, very open genre. And still love the old misanthropic standards too.

Unfortunately you can’t actually SEE me, so I can’t contribute to that “barely”… damn you internet, allowing me to communicate with people freely over vast distances!!! Damn you!!!

I like some Black Metal. And while I may get repetitively e-raped for saying it, I’ve always enjoyed Dimmu Borgir, mainly for ICS Vortex’s vocals, always thought they were awesome. Anyways, I shall check out Enthroned now.

Black metal reinvents itself every decade it seems! For the 2000s it definitely evolved– just check out “The Work Which Transforms God” by Blut aus Nord, “Assassins: Black Meddle Pt. 1″ by Nachtmystium, Secrets of the Moon, Peste Noire, Amesoeurs, Velvet Cacoon, etc.

Just remember to follow Cesar Milan’s adivise on dog training: work, discipline, then affection. Also puppies are like babbies in that they need constant attention, if they have to be alone leave the tv or radio on so they aren’t so lonely. I’m sure you already knew this but just in case.

I can say I think the majority of bands that refer to themselves as black metal aren’t worth my time or money but then again I’d rather listen to Black Metal then most of metal genres/sub-genres. Outside of NWOBHM, Doom Metal.
