GOATSE TRANQUILLITY

Over at his new site The Number of the Blog, longtime reader groverXIII has observed that the cover of the new Dark Tranquillity album, We are the Void, looks an awful lot like goatse. And while it hadn’t occurred to me before, I think he’s dead-on correct. Check it out:

By the way, if you don’t know what goatse is, well, google that shit (in private – it will definitely get you fired if anyone in your office sees you looking at it). I looked at it once about eight or nine years ago (or whenever it first surfaced) and it haunts my nightmares to this day; I find it so gross I can’t even bring myself to re-post here it, because then I’d have to fucking look at it. Ugh.

We are the Void comes out March 9 on Century.

          Heh… it’s a good thing, too, because I don’t feel like I’m ripping off someone else’s observation.

          As for why I was so quick to notice that… well, it worries me a bit that my mind decided to pick up on that.

    Part of me really wants to see the cover art photshopped onto goatse, or layered over it, just so maybe they’ll change the album art, cause it really fucking sucks. They have until Feb 25th. The printing presses can’t run that early, can they?

      Considering this is a melodeath album, the cover isn’t so bad. At the Gates and In Flames have far worse.

        I gave up hopes for In Flames after word came out that the guy who did the cover art for The Used was doing A Sense Of Purpose.

        I mean fuck, what’s wrong with Travis Smith, everything the guy does is classy.

            He’s done cover art for Opeth, Katatonia, Demons and Wizards, Bloodbath, Kamelot….so on. I mean, the guy is fucking awesome, so is the dude that runs Progart.com if it’s still up.

            As for Trivium’s drummer, he aint that bad, he’s serviceable for what he does.

    I remember the first time I saw Goatse. Freshman year of high school, someone’s account on the Blood-Sports.net forums, which I frequented when I liked fighting games, got hacked and the hacker edited all of their posts with goatse. *shudder*
