In case you missed the news this summer, that fine broad is Dorota Rabczewska aka Polish pop phenom Doda. I’ve heard some people say that metal gives hope. Well THAT gives hope to all metal dudes. One day I’ll be nailing some hot piece of blonde polish ass too. “All” I gotta do is form a band that is as fucking amazing as Behemoth.

Their relationship says a lot to me about why Europe is so great. Presuming this girl is equivalently popular in Poland as Britney Spears or Taylor Swift is in America, think how crazy it would be if one of those girls were dating/married to a guy with social/religious views as far outside the mainstream’s as Nergal. Like, imagine Spears was dating Glen Benton, maybe? Someone like that, I can’t think of any better example right now. Can you imagine how the American press would react? It would be a nightmare.
You can’t speak about Europe like you do for USA… even if USA has its differencies from state to state (I don’t know these but I suppose there are some), that’s nothing compared to the differencies between the european states. When you read something about Poland, you have to think “Poland” and not “Europe” because that’s a country that have nothing to do, for example, with France or Spain, they’re completely different worlds. I’m italian and I can guarantee that the reaction of the press, here, would be disgusted if a celebrity would date someone like Nergal… apparently that’s not the case for Poland… but I repeat, apart from the language, that’s a completely different world (not saying better or worse).
Isn’t Poland the most staunchly Catholic country in Europe? That makes it even weirder.

Matt B, Doda isn’t much like Swift or Britney. She never had that pure, innocent image. She is more like a slutty Pink (I mean the pop singer) wannabe. First of all Doda did playboy and a few other man’s magazines. She also has this “music” video she did with her first husband which was supposed to look like a celebrity sextape and she had a few topless scenes in it. She is desperate to create controversy because being the center of attention sells her albums. She is moderately smart, but prefers to be perceived as dumb and obnoxious to be more “shocking”.
I really don’t know any mainstream American pop stars I could compare with Doda. Imagine mixing Pink’s attitude and pop rock music with Paris Hilton’s dumb blond chick image. It’s something like that. Most of our pop singers try to have a squeaky clean image so it’s not that different when compared with America.
Because of her image and history of publicity stunts Doda’s behavior doesn’t really shock anyone here. People expect her to do “scandalous” things.
BTW Doda and Nergal got engaged about a week ago. She confirmed it.
