ABOUT THAT SYSTEM OF A DOWN “REUNION”? SHAVO SAYS “WELL, MAYBE NOT. BUT MAYBE.”

shavoOur commenters seemed equally split as to whether they’d look forward to new System of a Down music or not… but it all seems for naught, as SOAD bassist Shavo Odajian — who started the fracas yesterday with a Tweet — kind of sort of but not really retracted his statement. Shavo’s original Tweet:

“Are you guys ready for System???”

And another Tweet posted early this morning, once again courtesy of Metal Insider:

About my “are u guys ready for System?”. I’m not sayin we are back but, if so? U guys ready? SoRry for gettin u guys amped. I’m just seeing

So in other words, either a) Shavo was bored and his original Tweet was, in fact, misinterpreted, or b) Someone spilled the beans when he wasn’t supposed to. I’m going to side with “b.” And Shavo, if this mess proved anything it’s that the answer is quite obviously, “Yes, people are fucking ready!” Myself included.

      I only listened to the first 2 CDs, but they always kind of did their own thing. They were never trying to be the most metal band in the world.

        Agreed. Not a fan, but it’s not like they were some Norwegian Black Death Thrash band; they haven’t changed a whole hell of a lot. I have a feeling Goat Metal is one of those guys that took several years to figure out how to post on message boards.

    I do hope that when System of a down comes back that they do keep Daron away from the Mic. I have no problems with the dude singing but I really prefer Serj to sing.

    You forgot (c): There is no such thing as bad press, and internet lemmings will take even one sentence of a tweet and run with it, giving the band instant buzz it was hoping for in the first place, while allowing the band members watch all the ants scatter and shit themselves. (I think I mixed and made up about three metaphors.)

    You people who are saying “System turned their backs on metal”… LMAO/WTF at the same time. System of a Down NEVER should have been grouped into a genre. SOAD made better music than metal because you could actually hear the melodies and vocals. Typical metal junkies like you like the type of metal where the “vocalist” screams into the mic while the four backing rhythm guitars all play the same shitty chord. Get a life. Also, God forbid a ‘metal’ band gets popular and gets radio play – then you REALLY get the loonies running around saying things like “that band sold out” or “that band is totally not metal anymore” – get a life you stinkin’ bum.

    One of the bands I HAVE to see before death. None of the splinter groups are anywhere near the quality of SOAD. Anyone not getting SOAD is clearly fixating on the singles and not the message. Fine, but you’re missing the point. SOAD are a HC band, not metal.

    This just proves what I’ve always said – and thought – which is that Shavo is an abject idiot. He had to be taught his bass lines, over and over and, at least early on in their career, would screw up on stage.

    Oh ya, and let’s not forget that early on, Shavo had his ass summarily kicked by their drummer and almost kicked out of the band, presumably for being a complete and useless jagoff, so lets all hope that this will suffice to finish the job permanently, therefore “not being able to go on as SOAD” and then the music world will right once again.

    i AM SO READY FOR SYSTEM, i mean seriously the solo albums were pretty for Serj and Scars but they have been on hiatus for far too long. SYSTEM OF A DOWN is the best music i have ever heard ever….. and all those people who diss System, why the fuck do you even waste your time in commenting shit on good music.
