THE ACACIA STRAIN ARE THE MOST KNOWN UNKNOWN

A little over a year ago I was invited to go see The Acacia Strain play a sold-out show at the Palladium in Worcester. I wasn’t able to make it, but everyone I spoke to who did said it was INSANE. All caps like that, dude: INSANE.

Luckily, David Brodsky and his crack team of metal video makin’ nutjobs were there to capture the action, and the concert flick will be included on The Acacia Strain’s new DVD, The Most Known Unknown, which now has February 16 release date via Prosthetic.

In addition to that complete show, a press release tells us that the DVD will contain the following:

“…footage of a show at the much smaller and more intimate Waterfront on the band’s home turf of Holyoke MA, as well as three music videos, a documentary covering the formative years of the band and a “10 Seconds of Fame” bonus segment, in which select fans were given 10 seconds on camera to do whatever they wanted.”

I don’t think there’ll be any film of TAS front man Vincent Bennett fighting with Manure Emmure’s Frankie Palmeri, but if the footage Brodsky captured of the Palladium show is as good as the footage he shot of God Forbid for their DVD a couple of years back, this thing is gonna be well worth whatever you pay for it.

Bonus: awesome Paul Romano cover art!

You can pre-order The Most Known Unknown here; there is, of course, a version that also comes with a t-shirt.

Paul Romano is a metal-art god.
I never caught onto The Acacia Strain’s first couple of albums but their last one “Continent” is one of my favourite albums of all. It’s like they just got it all right. The stars aligned or something.

  • I killed a Dunky

    GiggaCore

  • RockOutWithMy…YouKnow

I know most of the people on this site hate “deathcore,” but there are a very select few bands that are good at what they do. Acacia Strain is definitely one of them. Vincent’s voice is one of the best in metal IMO. Can’t wait for this to come out.

    • Zoker

That’s because The Acacia Strain is not deathcore…

      • Slaughterhouse

I agree! They are fucking brutal and out of all the bands I have seen live…..they are by the far the fucking loudest!!!!!!!!!!

      • RockOutWithMy…YouKnow

Well, I’m not sure how I should describe them then. No matter how a heavy band is described, there’s gonna be someone who gets all butt hurt about them not belonging in whatever subgenre. Whatever they are, I fucking love ‘em.
What would you say they are?

        • Zoker

I know, you’re right… but I didn’t get butt hurt. All I’m saying is that there’s a reason why The Acacia Strain is actually a good band and that reason is… they’re not deathcore. I’d just classify them under the huge maybe-meaningless tag “metalcore”. Also, I know it’s not a matter of genres…

          • RockOutWithMy…YouKnow

As long as we agree that The Acacia Strain kicks ass, then you’re good in my book.

  • IamracistbutIiloveOceano

I saw these guys a couple years ago. Me and 30 other people in the whole place and most of them were there to see the local opening band.

  • http://thenumberoftheblog.wordpress.com DemiGodRaven

I saw them with Whitechapel, Gwen Stacy, Protest The Hero and Unearth, I was fucking bored.

  • orbital

I saw them I think in like ’05 with Still Remains, Scars of Tomorrow, and I think some locals. Was the first time I had heard of them and they left an impression. Been a fan ever sinse. Dunno if I’ll pick this DVD up though.

Three 6 Mafia called, they want their title back

It’s short, and sounds just like EVERY OTHER SONG THEY EVER RECORDED.

also….didn’t metalsucks sponsor a tour with emmure on the bill? funny that they are now talking shit about them

    • gibberish

They seem to sponsor or display ads for everything that they dislike

  • SolaceInNothing

Continent is so good its hypnotic. Solid fucking band that put on a great show, been waiting for this dvd for a long time!

  • Dom

Acacia always, I repeat, always plays INSANE shows. So good on your computer. Jizz-your-pants-worthy live. That’s just my two cents.

  • All Out War

I’ve seen them open up for Caliban at the Crazy Donkey, which was just one gigantic thugged out fist fight, and right after Emmure at the Summer Slaughter tour at the Starland Ballroom. For some reason I don’t think I’ll ever see those two bands on the same bill again.

  • Rob D.

I’m a big fan of these guys but wasn’t overly impressed when I saw them live last year. Touring with only one guitarist doesn’t make any sense (I think their music becomes a lot less interesting without the leads/harmonies), and the floor was full of shitheads that thought they were at karate practice or something.
