MESHU-GA-GA

OK so like mash-ups are SO totally 2008 (or even 2007 or 2006) but sometimes one comes along that we just can’t resist sharing.

Like this mash-up of Meshuggah’s “Bleed” and Lady GaGa’s “Paparazzi,” which Pallomember, the YouTube user who created it, boasts has “0% pitch shift, 0% time conversion.” The mash-up gets off to a ho-hum start with a sync that basically just sounds like random vocals thrown on top of a random riff that happens to be in the same time signature, but once “Bleed” starts to change the vocals start to match up rather nicely.

I’m still reeling for the William Murderface / Lady GaGa comparison, but this is pretty cool too.

Thanks to Suckalo Alex Davis for sending this in.

God I hate that fucking moron…

I wonder how long she’ll peg her career on the “what the fuck is she wearing” scheme…

    • your dumb

your dumb. she was wearing that shit way before she got big.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Byron-Ward/797615124 Byron Ward

I believe the correct term is “you’re dumb”…. but nevermind..

        • ur dum 2

i believe i dont give a fuck about grammar when posting on a website

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Byron-Ward/797615124 Byron Ward

            Clearly. Congratulations on that one.

        • Robomonkey

Not necessarily. In events of ownership, “your” would be acceptable to use. However, being that “dumb” is an adjective, it’s still an incomplete though. That being said, if he is a “dumb”, he can in fact be “yours”.

Unfortunately, he can not be your Honor Roll student.

          • Robomonkey

SHIT! I MEANT THOUGHT. INCOMPLETE THOUGHT!
I hate being a retard when I’m trying to be a smartass. -1.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Byron-Ward/797615124 Byron Ward

It’s really just a personal gripe. I can’t stand it when people don’t differentiate between “your” and “you’re”. It’s just lazy.

  • WowWee!

Great way to ruin a Meshuggah song.

    • http://www.concatenationrecords.com Kodiak

      My thoughts exactly.

      • Flava Flav

really? Meshuggah is about as cool as Lady Gaga.

        • Noel

pfff, says flava flav! [yeeeeeeeaaa, boy!]

        • g

Actually, they’re both awesome. Just not layered on top of each other.

    • orbital

      agreed

  • The Great Danton

Did anyone else think the chorus sounded creepy as fuck?

    • http://www.fatelessempire.ca/ Kevin Halsted

Totally. It sounds eerie as shit.

  • chris

not gonna lie, i actually dig lady gaga. then again, i first heard her when i was tripping and goddamn her music is trippy as fuck. plus, i would fuck the shit out of her

    • Facebook User

i love lady gaga, i don’t give a fuck dude

      • chris

hell’s yeah. fuck these close minded people. they are missing out.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mark-Gavin/1396340262 Mark Gavin

I’m not really into her music and I think she’s weird as fuck, but for what it is, I don’t think it’s that bad. I’d rather listen to Lady Gaga than Attack! Attack! or BrokeNCYDE.

    • boing

Or have her rail you with her giant hidden cock

      • chris

haha, was that an attempt at humor?

        • Hassman

          No, She’s a man

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mark-Gavin/1396340262 Mark Gavin

            You mean, “he’s” a man?

  • Bob

I want her and Patton to collaborate with Tom Waits,Eyvind Kang,Blake Judd, and maybe Malefic or Wrest produced by Devin Townsend oh yeah and Kid 606 remixes the whole thing after the Dust Brothers chop the balls off of it.Then Godlflesh does the whole thing live as a “B-side” with The Flaming Lips as their back up band.

    • chris

i don’t know what your saying, but i just have to say hearing patton, tom waits, and the flamng lips in the same sentence made my day. the flaming lips are amazing, they should definately collaborate with patton, that would be intense.

      • Primateforever

I have definitive proof that there is definitely no ‘a’ in definitely. Props on sentence though.

  • Driven9

what the fuck are you talking about

  • http://www.myspace.com/7stringslaughter CJLsky

That was awesome!! It would have helped if the vocals were in the same key as the music, but it actually matched up a few times there…cool shit!

  • Dre

yeah the chorus does sound fucking scary !! i wont see it anymore

  • yetzer hara

am i the only person who masturbated to this video?

    • hugh jabalz

      not even close

  • timmah

Meshuggah should file a lawsuit over this abomination of a mashup.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Gerardo-Martnez/1669099401 Gerardo Martínez

I like both songs. I find ‘Paparazzi’ to be a really catchy pop song and ‘Bleed’ to be a metal song to break your neck headbanging to. So, I wasn’t expecting wasn’t that good, but it was. Fuck haters. :D

  • Noel

best mash up still remains ice cubes “good day” song with metallica “sad but true” still the best.

  • Fufkin

Nothing against Lady GaGa, someone has to take over and stop Madonna trying to be hip before she ends uo breaking one, but I don’t think this mash-up works very well at all.

  • Ziltoid

That mash-up was oddly tolerable. Mainly because I like Meshuggah and think that Lady Gaga writes some tolerable pop music.

    • metalguy

wow the mainstream, no, mainstream POP has won zilty over. unbelievable.
      but yeah she alright

      • Ziltoid

Yeah, I was shocked when I actually didn’t hate her. But she (or whoever does it for her) writes some really catchy vocal melodies. Even relative to other pop music, her melodies are catchy, and I’ll give her credit for that.

        • chris

oddly enough, she actually does write it all her herself. i dig her music, i think she is really creative.

  • Matt

Gaga rules. So does this mashup

  • SonOF

    quality mashup.

  • orbital

I thought this was the new Planet Piss song

  • http://myspace.com/shepherdsgatemusic,myspace.com/burymeinsmokemusic Michael “The Armenian Demon” Fenton

“That chick is a really weird dude!” – Howard Stern

  • andy morales

    that wasn’t that bad

  • tyler09

shes got a voice when she sings correctly. This is the perfect mosh-up man. its soo good

  • syclonus

sounds like they just took the vocals from paparazzi over the music from bleed and called it a day. that was incredibly mediocre for a mashup.

  • http://myspace.com/numidium Marc

    That’s fucking creepy.

    • http://myspace.com/numidium Marc

The weirder coincidence is that the actor at the end of the video(Alexander Skarsgård) is from the same country as Meshuggah.

  • HokiePokie

Self-Sacrifice Project’s “Metal Remix” of Paparazzi is pretty damn good. I found it while looking at videos at the bottom of the screen on the Mash-up video. O.o

  • Rachel

GaGa-Core!!! I can’t wait for someone to make a band under this genre.

  • ~Ja5oN~

I hate to be a “stickler” to details, but this song has been chopped/edited to mash up. Case in point; the solo to this song doesn’t start until 4:17 into the song. The video was only like 3:27 minutes long. I call bullshit on this claim of ” The YouTube user who created it, boasts has “0% pitch shift, 0% time conversion.” I’ve heard this song literally over a hundred times. I don’t think even the video for this song has the solo in it and is edited for time as well.

    • ~Ja5oN~

By the way you can hear the solo at around 2:24 in this video. Do the math, something obviously doesn’t add up!

      • Ziltoid

Ummm…of course the song is edited. It’s cut/paste’d up so that the parts fit. Pitch shifting and time conversion are specific techniques unrelated to cutting and pasting. Trust me, most of us know that Bleed happens to be 7+ minutes long.

  • 20 eyes

what a disgrace to lady gaga

    • chris

haha, i find meshuggah kinda overrated. i still like them though, just not nearly aa much as others do.

  • Adam

Dunno, but to me the chorus was heavy as fuck!

  • http://www.last.fm/user/M60Patton Patton

Shit one, here vocals are unbearable for me.

  • Adam

Something about the way those two songs harmonize with each other… really (pun intended) strikes a chord in me.

I’m recording the youtube audio track to make an mp3 of it for my iPod.

  • Primateforever

That chick’s got a great ass for a dude.

  • Primateforever

Bridge into outro chorus is brilliant.

  • ITTOA666

    The joys of heavy autotune.
