W.A.S.P. BURN DOWN BABYLON, DIGNITY

It’s basically impossible for me to take “Babylon’s Burning,” the new video from W.A.S.P., at all seriously. Maybe inter-cutting footage of Nazis with the number “666″ as Blackie Lawless sings the number “666″ should strike me as being metal as fuck, but, mostly, it strikes me as an old-man who used to make headlines by being shocking trying desperately, and failing miserably, to be shocking again. Also, the song sucks.

Marilyn Manson, watch this video closely: this is your future.

    Why is WASP making a video in 2010 anyway? When is the last time they made a video? Or, perhaps more importantly, when is the last time a WASP video was played anywhere? And this is coming from someone that liked WASP for a long time.

      lol WASP is still huge in other parts of the world dude.Just not in the US anymore.They have CD’s that were only released outside the US.

    I’ve always loved WASP and am still a big fan. I’ve always thought Blackie was a criminally underrated songwriter and vocalist. But in the last few years Blackie has turned into a paranoid, born-again neo-con. I keep waiting for either Blackie, Ted Nugent or Jon Schaffer’s next project to be a concept album based on The Turner Diaries. They should all go out and hide from the black helicopters in the woods together.

    I quite like “Babylon’s Burning”, even if the edits in this version are too noticeable. The video’s crap though, and I don’t like it’s insinuation that Obama is akin to Hitler or Hussein. I know Lawless doesn’t like the guy, but c’mon…

    Axl- What the fuck is wrong with you, dude?? What on jehovah’s green earth is wrong with the SONG. Sure, the video is cheesy, but this song is absolutely killer. Seems like the other comments confirm that as well. W.A.S.P. have ALWAYS been a great band. They have never, ever released a bad or even mediocre album. “Babylon” is probably the best album he’s made since the godly “Crimson Idol” in 91/92.

    Blackie is a GREAT song writer, and an amazing vocalist. Lets break the song down:
    Good galloping riff/verse. KILLER fucking chorus. Great solo.

    Again, what’s not to like, Axl?

    Well, it’s better production than he’s had for a while. I was a huge wasp fan but he has really put out some crap the past decade. This sounds like an improvement. The video is super cheesy though.

      The album itself is great. Every track has a great big WASP chorus that we all know and love. Very solid album, all around. They cover Deep Purple’s “Burn”, better than the original almost!

    What the hell is wrong with you, Axl? I suspect your problems are more with Lawless’s political stance than with the video or the song. I’ve heard practically every album these guys have done and this is the LEAST tired they’ve sounded in ages.

    Fuck you Axl Von Rosenbergenmeister. WASP is one of the few old school bands left that actually make quality music. Granted….Blackie is mostly full of shit…..but he writes kick ass tunage.
