AFTER THE BURIAL GETTING READY FOR ROUND TWO

Thursday, January 21st, 2010 at 3:00pm by Vince Neilstein

Sumeriancore princes After the Burial [which begs the question... who are the kings of Sumeriancore? I seek our readers' input] are working on a new album, the title and release date of which have yet to be announced. But they’ve just posted a video of the pre-production sessions on their MySpace page, and we’ve re-posted it for you below.

Sounds like the follow-up to 2008’s Rareform [a re-vocaled / re-mixed / better-sounding version of which was re-released in 2009] will be just as shreddy, groovy and technical as its predecessor. Rareform was an underrated gem of 2008, a promising label debut from a band on the rise in a scene on the rise. Here’s to hoping they can avoid the sophomore jinx (2006’s independently-released Forging a Future Self not withstanding) by one-upping Rareform and distinguishing themselves from the growing Sumeriancore pack.

  7. Driven9 says:

holy shit, I cannot wait for this. If they continue to put out these bullshit ‘productioin-teaser” im gonna go insane. fuck…

  8. Kevlard says:

The Faceless are def kings of Sumeriancore.

Also, ATB shouldn’t have redone their last album but instead fixed Forging a Future Self. That album is a fucking gem but sadly has the worst production value I’ve ever heard on a metal album.

  9. evilfatguy says:

    They sure do love Meshuggah.

  10. iolanach says:

    Sumeriancore.

    What a ridiculous label.

Anyways, these guys are pretty damn good. Can’t wait for the new one.

  11. Nick says:

the faceless/conducting from the grave/ veil of maya/ after the burial and born of osiris are great bands its almost retarded how good these bands were to making accessible, catchy music while still being tech/ heavy as fuck…every body takes these bands for granted

  15. hackman says:

the faceless. hands down. end of story. game over.

  16. De La Rosa says:

No one even cares about Stray.

    • DecrystallizingReason says:

first album was meh, but what I’ve heard of the new one is pretty good. I saw them live and got bored.

What Daniel said. That solo was pretty wicked, I’m digging this shit!

  20. CJ says:

I love The Faceless, but they really don’t seem like they fit the tag of Sumeriancore to me.

  21. dick? says:

    fuck born of osiris

after listening to their first album i realized it sounds the same on each track.
if they’re kings of anything it’s sucking it up, BIGTIME.
their guitarist though is damn good, however, ATB is waaaaayyyy better.
and then Veil of Maya seems pretty good.

in order of greatness? Faceless, ATB, VOM.

    BOO? lame.

  22. Kill All says:

    ATB > all

  23. Brownsound says:

Over a year ago it looked like Born Of Osiris was going to be the King of Sumeriancore, but their new release didn’t really deliver anything to secure that spot.

It’s either After The Burial, Veil of Maya, or The Faceless. I couldn’t tell you who will it will be, they’re all extremely talented bands.

Though I would pay like a hundred bajillion dollars to hear Forging A Future Self re-recorded :O

  24. Walker says:

Aspirations makes me jump around like an idiot. ATB songs sound different compared to BOO.

  25. skip crackers says:

fuck calling it sumeriancore….its straight up meshuggah-core…call a spade a spade

  26. Slaughterhouse says:
