THE FREE SCION ROCK FEST IS BACK, BABY!

Vince and I had an AMAZING time at least year’s absolutely free Scion Rock Fest in Atlanta, GA. For the price of, well, nothing, we can to watch Mastodon, Neurosis, Pig Destroyer, Converge, Kylesa, Torche, Wolves in the Throne Room, Salome, and a host of other awesome bands. It was really quite the experience. And did I mention it was FREE?!?

Well, Toyota is it again this year, and Scion Rock Fest 2010 will take place on Saturday, March 13, this time in Columbus, OH. Vince and Kip Wingerschmidt are 100% committed to being there, and I’m trying to figure shit out right now. Meanwhile, the line-up is, once again, really killer. Check it out:

    Man, it would only be a couple of hours to drive to Columbus, but I plan to be in Florida at this point in the year.

    NICE!!! The Iraqi band Acrassicauda will be playing a show in America? Those guys deserve it. Check out their story at http://www.hulu.com/watch/76543/heavy-metal-in-baghdad if you’ve never seen it. They aren’t the best metal band out there, but for what they’ve been through they show more metal spirit than anyone else I’ve ever seen.

      How are you getting your tickets? You gonna make a separate trip beforehand? If thats the case, Scion will turn out to be expeeeeensive. Fucking gas….either way I’m there too. Fuck it.

        When you RSVP you can choose where you pick up your tickets and they have locations in the states neighboring Ohio…. I’ll be getting mine at a record store in a Detroit suburb.

        OR when you RSVP you could also chose will call and pick up your tickets the day of the event.

    Acrassicauda’s first North American show was LAST NIGHT at the Charleston with Dessert Storm and Goes Cube. Dessert Storm was sloopy grindcore, but kind of fun. Goes Cube was tight and heavy as fuck. Acrassicauda was… well, they have a really good backstory. But honestly, even with Alex Skolnik playing guitar on the last song, they couldn’t be helped. Sorry, someone had to say it.

    god. damn. it. why in fuck do i have to live in new mexico?!?!?!?!?!?! i would kill to go to this festival. shrinebuilder? 3iob? pelican? gah! unfortunately cannibal corpse is headlining, who suck my balls and seem really out of place on a festival that seemed mostly geared toward out there, different metal bands (and lots of post metal which tickled my pickle), so if i went would definitely leave early and beat traffic.. sadly last year was better, i mean i would have given my left foot to go to that, that was orgasm fest. this here is like i’m-almost-creaming-myself-but-then-you-turned-into-a-rotting-corpse-and-i-couldn’t-finish fest. still would love to go… hate all of you that can…

    If I magically stumble upon the money to afford a trip to Ohio, I’ll be there, otherwise it looks like I’ll be sitting this one out.

    I don’t dig the lineup nearly as much as I dug last year’s though.
