SATURDAY SONG TO SHRED PSYCHEDELIA TO: EARTHLESS — “SONIC PRAYER”

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 at 2:14pm by

Sandy Eigo’s EARTHLESS weave together a formidable blend of shredderiffic classic rock / psychedelic stoner metal, and while the at-home listening experience requires the full-stop, no talking zone-out attention many of us so rarely have in our daily routines, in a live setting this shit bops n bounces n totally slays through epically searching musical journeys in a supremely palatable and jaw-dropping way…

We saw these guys absolutely kill in November opening up for Baroness, and save for one poor shmuck who just couldn’t get into it, all the other heads in the room were completely blown.

EARTHLESS — “Sonic Prayer” from Rhythms from a Cosmic Sky (2007)

Earthless is brilliant. Good music to listen to anytime. Driving, working out, working at the computer.. I love it because you can just put it on and you don’t need to hit the button for another 20 minutes . Check out their “Live At Roadburn” set, too. One track is 45 minutes.

Yes! the Live LP is insanely good, as well as everything else they have put out. They have 5 other lives sets on itunes only which I bought all of, crazy stuff.

YES! I love Earthless! Although personally, I like the song “Godspeed” better. Regardless, Rhythms from a Cosmic Sky is one of the best albums ever.

The real shiner is actually the Groundhogs cover, Cherry red. Sounds almost alike. Its a ripper

yess! i was listening to the Sonic Prayer Live 10″ earlier, so good. got to see them twice last year… cant wait to hear some new recorded stuff (as loose of a term it may be) from them, its been 2 or 3 years. their side of the split with Witch is so good.

I live in San Diego and I’ve known about these guys for a while now, but I didn’t know that anyone else outside of Daygo knew about then, though!

Really? They tour non-stop, are on TeePee Records and the drummer was in Black Heart Procession, Rocket From the Crypt, Hot Snakes and is/was a pro-skater.

Yeah I saw Earthless on tour with Witch in Boston. Great show, drummer is out of his damn mind. Another band in this vein that is worth checking out is Tia Carrera. They are on Tee Pee records I think. Those guys jam hard, I think there are some live recordings of them at Roadburn online somewhere.
