True, by those terms they’re pretty close…

I propose we convene the Secret Metal Council and vote on a new genre term… I suggest “Uber-Metal” to describe metal that takes from multiple genres in both a proggy and ludicrously over the top way.

Very disappointing songs. After listening to Flies & Lies, I was hoping there would be more growls/less clean passages on their next album. The track Rolling Chances had the right balance in vocal styles.

Dream Evil is pretty much the only straightforward power metal I listen to. it’s cheesy as fuck, but any band that has a song called “Fire! Battle! In Metal!” is fine by me

This new song is REALLY lame in every possible way. It’s sad to see a band that wrote such a solid album in Flies and Lies go to shit like this. And the vocals were better on Flies and Lies.

Also, their cover of Michale Jackson’s “Beat It” is rather funny.

Really, it’s not doing much for you? Because I heard one of the new songs yesterday on Pandora and I immediately wrote them down on my perpetual list of bands to check out. Honestly, I have one and it’s got on it: Machinemade God, Enslaved, Setherial, Manticora, Raintime, and now the new Priestess album as well.

Communic?

I fully endorse this “modern power metal” thing… mainly because, looking at Mercenary, Nevermore, Communic… they’re not power metal at all!

No frilly shirts, no lyrics about orcs/elves/woods/battles, just big riffs and big vocals.

It’s just good metal. Not pwer metal.
