EX-PERIPHERY SINGER JOINS BAND THAT SOUNDS JUST LIKE AND INCLUDES MEMBER OF PERIPHERY

Shockwaves Ripples emanated throughout the metal blogosphere last month when Sumerian young guns Periphery announced that vocalist Chris Baretto had been replaced by Spencer Sotelo. It seemed like Periphery were just getting into the groove with Baretto having been singerless for so many years, on the heels of successful Summer Slaughter and East Coast headline runs, and with their Sumerian Records debut slated for release this Spring. And not for nothin’, Baretto is a talented singer and an enthralling frontman capable of energizing any audience…. the move was a bit of a head-scratcher.
But fear not, Chris Baretto fans. Haunted Shores, an instru-metal band we featured here this past October, have tapped Baretto to fill their vacant vocalist spot.
And here’s the kicker: Haunted Shores count Periphery’s Misha Mansoor (aka “Bulb”) among their ranks as producer and guitarist (which shouldn’t surprise anyone listening to the tracks on Haunted Shores’ MySpace page). Those sound like Baretto’s pipes on the track “When in Oslo”, and they sound damn good.
We never got an official reason for the Baretto / Periphery split but we can assume from the Misha connection that things between at least between these two gentes are amicable. Looking forward to hearing more Baretto-fronted Haunted Shores music in 2010.

great..two bands that suck. Can we expect more beatboxin in the Cartman from Southpark voice?
FACT.
So wait, that’s…who? Justin Guarini?
LMFAO
wait.. wait what? i was just getting into this band!
the singer is like, the FRONTMAN! HE HOLDS THAT SHIT DOWN LIKE A LEAD GUITARIST. definately a head scratcher. ive seen alot fo live vids znd interviews, and the singer has a great positive energetic personality, and his stage presence is irreplaceable. but i suppose w’ll see what happens.
definately a head scratcher indeed.
yup
maybe its cuz they game log some e?
Ya this definitely was a head scratcher, but fear not, just saw the new vocalist last night and he held it down really well. He had great stage presence and could sing/scream all the parts to the dot. Not as powerful scream as Chris B. but whatever. Periphery just kicked ass.
Kinda random that he left Periphery if he’s still playing with Misha? Will Misha tour with them too? Why can’t Chris tour with Periphery? Strange indeed. Good tunes tho.
Haunted Shores is a great band.Their first CD is a face melter.Stoked to hear them with this dude on vox.
THey played Thrash N Burn, not Summer Slaughter.
Does anyone actually know why they replaced Chris B?
Chris was so dope, I’m incredibly pissed. I hope they still have his recordings on the full-length.
Bulb has like 5 different bands. OMNOM, Haunted Shores, Bulb, Periphery…. they’re all basically the same awesome thing. This isn’t really going to mean that much.
Dude I saw that guy open for BTBAM less than 6 months ago and he was the shit. That blows.
Haunted Shores are recording a split EP with Cyclamen at the moment (if I recall correctly). This is going to be orgasmic.
