RATT’S NEW SINGLE HAS GOTTEN THE “BEST OF ME”

ratt - infestationI mean that both literally and figuratively ’cause the track’s called “Best of Me” and I’m two-and-a-half listens in and already a total sucker for this song. It’s got everything you want in a Ratt tune: a vintage DeMartini riff drowned in reverb, ridiculous lyrics, cheesy backup vox, a powerful pre-chorus (it’s all about the pre-chorus! just ask Steve Clarke), a climax-building bridge and the release of a scorching guitar solo. Of course, Stephen Pearcy sounds as shitty as ever which only adds to this song’s charm.

Vince Neilstein gives a hearty YES to Ratt in 2010. Possibly the only ’80s hair band still making good music? I never would’ve expected it to be Ratt. Hopefully Infestation, out April 20th on Roadrunner / Loud & Proud, will follow suit.

    I was a big fan of “Out Of The Cellar” back when it came out. Ratt is a reliable cock rock outfit.

    Another surprisingly good cock rock band is Steven Adler’s “Adler’s Appetite”.

    Warren Demartini is one of the main reasons I play guitar. When he dropped thru the ceiling and wailed the solo in the video for round and round, my 12 year old life was changed forever. I badgered my parents into bying me a guitar the next day. This song is indeed classic Ratt. God I hope the entire album is this good…

    The rest of the Ratt album is great too. Don’t get me wrong, there are, maybe, 2 filler cuts, but the rest of it smokes!

    Have always loved Ratt, always will. Love the new Taking Dawn record too. Nice to hear some new rock and roll that’s not super heavy or super pussy. Sometimes you just need that middle ground……

    Stephen Pearcy always sings like he’s gotta awful sore throat. Tesla is the best 80′s hair metal band out there today. Their 2008 ‘Forever More’ album was surprisingly awesome!!
