DOWNLOAD DOUBLE DRAGON’S DEVASTATOR… FOR FREE!

Friday, February 5th, 2010 at 12:40pm by

Australia’s Double Dragon have apparently been tearing shit up on their native island: they’ve played support slots for Slayer, Megadeth, Mastodon, Lamb of God, Chimaira, Carcass, Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, In Flames, The Haunted, The Black Dahlia Murder, Kataklysm, and Soilwork. Not too shabby.

Unfortunately, the band don’t have a U.S. or European record deal, which means that their most recent offering, Devastator, hasn’t been available to fans outside of Australia… until now. The band are giving Devastator away for absolutely no cost. You can download the torrent here.

The band is currently in the process of recording a new album, which vocalist Lee Gardiner promises me is “not going to be heavier, or softer, or more or less moody, just new music, from us five cunts.” Sounds good to me!

Australia is an island now ? It’s not a continent ?

    • Elpants

      *facepalm*

      • Zoker

Really man… does it make any difference?

        • Biff_Tannen

Does it matter ? Yes, because the world already thinks (for good reason) that American are brain dead cultural shut-ins that know nothing about the world outside our borders. Axl seems determined to reinforce this belief.

          • kelfro

You do enough of that for all of us.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rik-Powell/286400508 Rik Powell

            It’s both.

          • Biff_Tannen

Kelfro- I could understand if you think Im a dick or something, but what part of my posts make you believe that Im a cultural shut in that is ignorant about the rest of the world ?

          • kelfro

I don’t know you, so I don’t think you’re a dick or ignorant. I think arguing about whether Austarlia is an island or continent is petty, and I don’t think the rest of the world really cares what we call Australia.

          • dave

            actually austrailia isnt a continent

          • dave

just looked on wikipedia, turns out it is both an island and a continent

          • Biff_Tannen

Well, EVERY landmass is surrounded by water on all sides…. so you can say that everything is an island.
BUT, Australia is large enough that it is considered one of the 7 continents on Earth.

    • Andresen

      we found him…the worst poster…

    • SonOF

Biff: That’s all you took from the article? Australia can (and is) considered both, you clown. “Australians themselves are divided, and often claim that Australia is both the world’s largest island and the world’s smallest continent. ” And that’s coming from actual Australians. So Axl’s comment doesn’t reinforce the idea that “Americans are brain dead cultural shut-ins that know nothing about the world outside our borders,” but your comment shows that you are a wannabe intellectual who cares deeply about minor semantic issues.

      • Freedom35

Ive lived in Oz my whole life and ive never heard anyone say we are the worlds largest island. Doesnt ‘the only country that occupies a whole continent’ sound way cooler than ‘we are the worlds largest island’ ??

    • SonOF

Thought I threw this in, since Biff started this semantic nonsense and thought he was smarter than everyone else:

“Australia and Antarctica are the only two true Continental Islands. That is, they are separated from all other continents by water. All other continents are connected by a landmass to at least one other Continent. If there are any waterways, they have been artificially created. “

  • Elpants

Oh, and this CD is rather terrible.

    • orbital

so was the first 20 seconds of what I heard. So I stopped.

  • Discipleofthewatch

Wow, every one of the bands that they’ve opened for, I love, except for the Haunted; I’m not too familiar with them. Nice resume!

    • orbital

The Haunted kill. Love that band.

    • LEROYDRAGON

      Thanks mate!

  • http://thenumberoftheblog.wordpress.com/ groverXIII

    I’ll give ‘em a listen… it’s free, after all.

  • Mike

    this band is gay

  • Dwarfskeet

    I’m diggin’ that album cover.

    Initiate free downloadin’ now.

  • Phil Anshlomo

there’s a band called Double Dragon? fuck it, i’m going to start a band and call it “streets of rage”. it sounds like the type of band to tour with waking the cadaver and those retards.

    • Oden

call that shit street fighter II turbo !!

      • orbital

        win!!

    • Octillus

Everyone knows Streets of Rage can only be a jazz-fusion explosion with maybe some trip hop elements.

Also, if you tour you can only eat turkeys you find in garbage cans.

    • SonOF

      How about “River City Ransom?”

    • Dinoczar

you win the internet for the day

  • xCOOCOOKALx

i used to play the shit outta that game on nintendo. “what? i have to fight my brother? noooooooooooo….”

  • d.o.g.o.b.g.y.n.

  • Facebook User

double dragon?… what, was the legend of zelda band name already taken? or how about mike tyson’s punch out.

    • http://thenumberoftheblog.wordpress.com/ groverXIII

      Or MOTHERFUCKING TETRIS

      • LEROYDRAGON

If we started now I would of called us Wii-Fit.

  • Douchebag

Pretty boring from what I heard on myspace. Real cheesy groove/metalcore, no wonder they’re only famous in Australia.

  • Natsquatch

“So boys, what should we call ourselves?”

    “Dragon.”

    “Uh, no.”

    …..”DOUBLE Dragon.”

    “YES!”

    • Discipleofthewatch

Slayer almost named themselves Dragon Slayer; good thing they DIDN’T.

  • pigchop

Well, it’s not entirely un-listenable. At least the download speed was good.

  • Kayla

This band is fucking awesome. The CD is pretty rad but live, oh man, they are fucking spectacular. No matter how drunk, stoned or whatever the fuck they are, they put on a great show. I can’t wait for their new album

    • gingerchink

i have seen the singer of this band so wasted he was falling asleep between songs, but during songs, it was completely insane. Almost, actually insane. Insane live band. check their buddies truth corroded out too, they are better.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matthew-Flores/715381220 Matthew Flores

Anyone else think that the cover art looks similar to Winds of Plague’s debut album cover ‘Decimate the Weak’? Lol.

    • Kàn I)))

For me, it’s look like Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat.

    • DemonicLemming

I just want to know why the dude is holding a scythe backwards. Not really too effective that way.

Also, mediocre music at best. The out-of-sync harmony killed the song I listened to…Plague Bears Your Name or summat.

  • ishan

straight into hell is bad ass. Thanks double dragon

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jay-See/726690352 Jay See

The cover makes it look like it will be epic metal…it sounds like shitty punk rock.

  • http://DarkTwinCities.com devil

If you’re going to offer up your music for free it’s a good idea to make sure the music doesn’t SUCK first. If I get your music for free and it sucks I will never, ever, EVER pay for it, thus ending your misguided career choice. This band is horrible.

  • DillyGaff

Thanks for the free music, didnt grab me at first, but its different, it isn’t punk rock though. Track 4 is very interesting, and every song has some nice guitar work / solo’s. Will keep an eye on this band.

  • http://vague-news.blogspot.com Clarky Cat

It’s a decent record but the drums are ruining it for me. Did they trigger the whole kit? Sounds like a drum machine. In my opinion, you should only ever trigger the bass drum. Triggering everything just covers up a bad drummer. Sorry guys.

    • anathema

Agreed: drums are way overprocessed, and the guitars are all buried in the mix — I can’t tell what the hell is going on at all.

I can totally see how this would slay face live, though.
