I’VE GOT A HEAT FETISH FOR THE BLED

Friday, February 5th, 2010 at 1:20pm by

There are some bands that certain people will never give the time of day solely because of pre-conceived notions. The Bled are one of those bands. But I’m not going to stop trying to get metalheads to pay attention to them…. because they’re a band you really need to pay attention to.

In January The Bled posted two new songs that I proclaimed the heaviest songs the band had ever written. One of those songs, “Smoke Breaks” (the heavier of the two), is still posted, while “Moutheater” has been replaced by another new song, “Crowbait.” It’s not as heavy (or in my opinion as good) as the other two, especially the fireball that is “Smoke Breaks,” but it’s still a decent song.

Heat Fetish drops March 2nd.

The reason no one’s giving them the time of day because this progression is disingenuous. They saw that they weren’t getting the love of the mainstream anymore so they decided to toughen their sound. Meanwhile bands like Spitfire and The End have been exploring this sonic territory for years and don’t even get a blurb.

These motherfuckers can suck on a tampon for all I care.

If the music and the progression are good now… who cares if they’re disingenuous?

I’m just stating why most MS readers will continue to ignore them, the quality of the music has nothing to do with it. It’s not half bad, but again, there are countless bands out there that do it better and with more authenticity, and most of them will be glossed over just because they don’t have the Hot Topic bump these turds get.

they did a song with P.O.S. which was great. i’ll give ‘em a whirl based on this and that.

    Yeah, could care less.

Haven’t listened to these guys in a while. Pass the Flask and Found in the Flood are both really great though. I Never Met Another Gemini is probably in my top ten ‘-core’ songs.

The double standards on -core music on this site never cease to amaze me.
