BRAD FICKEISEN ON WHY HE LEFT THE RED CHORD

Last night it was announced that drummer Brad Fickeisen is out of The Red Chord, but we had no idea why he was out of The Red Chord. Well, Brad just e-mailed us the following statement explaining the split:

“There is no easy way to go about leaving a busy band with plans in constant motion, but a little abruptly, I chose to depart from manning the kit for The Red Chord. I have had a great time for the past 5 years with these guys, and wouldn’t exchange it for anything. Touring is tough, everyone who’s done it, knows that. To keep it relatively short, I want to thank Greg, Guy, and Mike, and wish them the best of luck in the future. I will still be around in the music world. Thank you to everyone that I met along the way, and thank you to my friends and family for all of your support…”

So it would seem that touring fatigue is the culprit once again. That’s a bummer (although totally understandable – touring can suck, even if you love playing live), but as I said in my earlier post, Mike Justian is a pretty big silver lining.

    This isn’t the first time Brad has quit. He’ll be back in a two months or so.

    mother fucker that blows. he was an excellent drummer. i havent even got to hear their new album yet.

    I think the fact that former drummer Mike Justian is coming back sort of makes this a non-issue. I’m not a drummer, but it seems that both are incredibly talented (as the music they played on illustrates), so as long as TRC has one drummer of this caliber, I don’t think the quality of their music will suffer.

    Can’t blame him…I love making music and playing live, but I would NEVER pursue it as a career. I like having a stable home life – going 9 or 10 months out of the year without seeing family or friends would suck. That’s time you never get back. Much respect to anyone that lives that lifestyle just to give me great music to listen to.

    I’m kinda choked he left, the drumming on Fed Through the Teeth Machine was fantastic! Here’s hoping Justian can still do a good job

    Fickeisen is pretty good name for a metal musician. It means Fuckiron in German. No kidding!
