HOLY GRAIL, BATMAN!

holy grailWhile White Wizzard take their show on the road all over the world and make bad-ass videos in support of their upcoming trad-metal rocker Over The Top, former members of that band are getting ready to do the same in their new project, Holy Grail. Holy Grail released the four-song Improper Burial EP this past Fall and are currently in the studio hammering out their full-length debut, Crisis in Utopia, with Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle) behind the boards. The record is due out on Prosthetic Records in late Spring.

Three tracks from the Improper Burial EP are currently streaming on the band’s MySpace page. If the full-length songs are anything like these I can’t wait to hear ‘em.

Saw these guys open for 3 inches of blood a few months ago. Fun band, a couple songs stuck out to me as being pretty good. The guitar player on the left was being a little ridiculous (playing the guitar behind his head for example). I guess it’s better to be over the top than underwelming though.

Aren’t these the guys that went to Berklee College of Music? They have a pretty solid sound.

    • stu1

      No, dont think so.

  • Discipleofthewatch

Have you guys also seen the High Speed GTO video? It’s pretty funny as well. Yes, better to be Over The Top than underwheming.

  • Kuranes

I think I like this more that White Wizzard.

I agree. The better members of WW left to form something even better, which is Holy Grail.

Valhalla isn’t on the EP, but they are pretty rad.

    Sweet, two White Wizzards!

Shit, I just don’t support this Iron Maiden ripoff music. It’s not necessarily bad, but come on, a new band who plays the same style of music already professed by people twice their age 30 years ago?

    • stu1

I don’t think these guys really sound all that much like Maiden. It’s definitely a huge influence, but wouldn’t call them a “ripoff.”

I would call this a BLACKTIDE ripoff. Play immortal man and sing “i’m a shockwave.”
sure, they have more cred/talent (even though blacktide have done more during their pre-pubic hair life than I) being over 15 and all but still…

    • http://URI Will

ps. they are okay. but i think blacktide are ok as well. haha

I’d like to point out that Improper Burial is an old Conducting From The Grave song. Obviously the two bands have nothing to do with each other, but I thought it was worth a mention.

fuck i love these two bands, although the holy grail singer is way cooler than his replacement in white wizzard

  • Wiizard of Vancouver

I went and saw White Wizzard in Vancouver just a week or so ago. I went to the bands Myspace page and there was an add saying they were looking for a new lead guitarist. Then I was looking at their top friends and the guitarists photo was gone.

Is there trouble with White Wizzard yet again? That would be awesome to get another spin off. Actually it would be more of a joke.

Their video is cool though. Looking forward to HG CD.

The new WW album is amazing. They were amazing live on the last tour. Both bands are A+++++ Nobody is original anymore in any genre. Both bands write cool songs and both rule.
