NOW MINOTAUR RULES THEIR OWN LAIR

LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR. This band is so heavy, just typing their name makes my fingers hurt. This band is so metal they can’t travel by plane, ’cause they set all the alarms off when they try to go through security. True story, that.

ANYWAY, the band has announced the forthcoming release of a new album, Evil Power, which sounds kinda cheesy until you realize how completely fucking metal it is. Some grandma is gonna find a vinyl copy of something called Evil Power with what I’d wager will be some pretty sick cover art, and she’s gonna shit her pants and send her grandson away to church camp or something. Just you watch.

Evil Power is coming out on April 13 via The Grind-House Records, a new label started LOTM (hurts too bad to type the full name!) members Steve Rathbone and Chris Wozniak and Josh Diebel, lately of Alleysweeper Records. Their distro deal is with LOTM’s original label, Southern Lord, so expect this album to be just as tr00 as ever.

Evil Power? That’s a rather crappy follow up name to War Metal Battle Master.

I enjoy that the Slayer burger is made with anger.

The Pantera is also awesome. I love Kumas. Heavy metal whille eating awesome burgers.

    • Isaac

I went there. The place kicks ass.
I enjoy the fact that they have a Pig Destroyer pork sammich, and a Goblin Cock burger that has a dog on it.

i heard one of their songs/saw the video, as far as i remember they were awful. trying WAAAAAYYYYYYYY to hard to be metal.

In that case, the joke’s on you. There is definitely a tongue-in-cheek element to their music and overall aesthetic – hence the purposefully illegible logo (in its earlier incarnations, anyway). I mean, don’t get me wrong – they’re serious about what they do, but they also recognize metal’s inherent ridiculousness and silliness, and they fully embrace it (but without being over-the-top obvious about it).

I should note that the above info was told to me directly by one of the original members of the band.

  • Utmu

I’ve known about these guys for a while, but only around a month ago bought a song by them. It was awesome, and I can’t wait for this thing… too bad I have to wait until April for this and March for HOP’s new album. Also Feb. 23 seems like a freakin’ month away… all I want is Rotting Christ’s Aealo…

  • Wyzt

I’ve seen these guys in Chicago a few times, pretty much a big “meh” all around. Especially being followed up by bands like Nunslaughter!

    • ThisIsNecessary

I also live in Chicago and saw them open up for some band which at the moment escapes me, but everyone who came with me and most of the crowd didn’t think much of this band whatsoever. I still tried to give them another chance by listening to their record but it was the yawnz.

Taste the beast!! MINOTAUR!!! Yeah, this band is probably way cooler than an energy drink that Stifler would peddle.
