HIGH ON FIRE STREAMING SNAKES FOR THE DIVINE

If the headline doesn’t tell you everything you need to know, please consult a physician, as you may be retarded and eligible for aid from the state. Otherwise, go here to listen to High on Fire’s latest offering in full.

I’ve only had time to listen to about half the album, but that half is pretty awesome. In fact, my only complaint thus far is that I’m not sure the song “Bastard Samurai” needed to be over six minutes, given that unlike, say, the eight minutes-plus title track, it doesn’t have a huge amount of variation. But that’s a really minor complaint, because it’s still a very cool song.

Give the album a listen and then let us know what you think in the comments section below. It comes out February 23 on E1.

  • Lordassenfroth says:

its pretty slammin’ i think its bad ass

  • Genial Gentile says:

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the production. Albini and Endino are tough acts to follow.

  • Mike says:

I’m really digging this. I found older High On Fire to sound too similar, and I hated the production. The sound here is better and the songwriting and diversity has increased as well. Matt Pike writes some great guitar solos. I’ll be picking this up the day it comes out at Best Buy for $7.99 ;)

Totally rules, brilliant, stunning, can’t wait to see them live in New York in April!

  • im digging this shit! saw em on gigantour a few years back. i like this stuff a lot more than blessed black wings

  • Dre says:

HEll yeah! smoking weed and headbanging to the first 2 tracks from Spain!

  • Seb says:

I just listened to it, and I’m a little disappointed. Maybe after I pick it up and listen to a couple more times it’ll grow on me. For me, however, they have yet to write a song as mind-numbingly awesome as 10,000 Years.

I really enjoyed Death Is This Communion, so we’ll see how this measures up in the long-run.

  • Dre says:

“The path” and “Fire, Blood and Plague” fucking kills!

  • i really wish the vocals were better in this band. I would really love them. but the bad vocals really hold me back from really embracing them.

  • lou says:

I think I just wet my pants.

  • M. says:

Sounds epic. I actually think the production works really well for High on Fire. Pike’s vocals sound a little shot is my only complaint.

  • Genial Gentile says:

You’re dipping into Matt Pike’s drinking money, bro!

  • groverXIII says:

I just gave this album the once-over… and I loved it. Might be their best album yet!

  • Santa Claus says:

Cant wait for this. Anyone ever listen to Matt Pike sing for Kalas? I’ve never heard that band mentioned here but its a killer album.

  • TheHangingBrain says:

Yes, I shall be buying this one. Killer stuff.

  • Keith Brown says:

I just violently humped my computer, and now my day is complete

  • Fong Chung says:

Anyone ever hear Sleep? Yeah I know I have. Matt Pike’s famous band that wrote a 52 minute epic called Dopesmoker? Yeah that song, and album fucking ruled pretty hard. High On Living Off of Motorhead’s catalog not so much. Boring track and boring band. Neeeext.

  • soy el niño más bonito says:

i’m only like 3 minutes into the first track and i’m def picking this album up

  • Joe says:

I was disappointed when the first two singles came out. I thought they were mediocre. However, the rest of this album (particularly Ghost Neck and How Dark We Pray) is pretty awesome. It definitely grows on you.

  • Chad says:

Very disappointing. All this talk of “heaviest, fastest, darkest…” where? To me it’s a bad Accept record, but slower. High on Fire is a band that I figured had at least a few more records before they sucked. They surprised me. I will definitley not be buying this one. I’ve listened to it about 10 times hoping I was wrong. But, nope. I was right. First instinct.
