A WORLD EXCLUSIVE: STREAM MUTINY WITHIN’S SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM IN FULL

Monday, February 22nd, 2010 at 1:00pm by

mutiny withinMutiny Within‘s long-awaited self-titled debut record finally comes out tomorrow. It’s been a long time coming for these New Jersey (and British) younguns who I first saw play a cramped basement at NYC’s Lit Lounge about two years ago, back when they were simply called Mutiny. I’ve said it quite a bit leading up this release but it bears repeating: not a whole lot of “commercial” (for lack of a better word) metal has tickled my fancy these past couple of years, but Mutiny Within hit that sweet spot for me. It’s the perfect mix of technicality, brutality and melody and of European and American metal sensibilities. For what it’s worth, it’s one of my favorite releases of 2010 so far. Enjoy the full album stream below and be sure to purchase the record when it comes out tomorrow. It’s available for only $11 with an autographed booklet if you order today.

love these guys, the album is the shit, hope to c em comin my way sometime soon

  • Me

first time hearing this band, will pick this up (digitally or in physical form pending my location and ability to find a store with it)!

  • Thomas JPG

Awesome band and a great album, cant wait 2 here more of these guys.

  • sheila chase

seen them twice can’t wait to see them again @ Blondies in Detroit in April! amazing album and will be buying it tomorrow!!

  • Facebook User

Fuck yes! I can’t get enough of this album!

  • Dysenteric

Well, I’ve listened to the whole album through. This album is so pussified, it makes the newest In Flames record sound like Infester. If I ever hear this band again, or this whiny git of a vocalist, I will kill someone.

    • CONFIRMED

      thats not even an opinion…

      • Elpants

Exactly, it’s a cold hard fact that the world would be better off if this band just never touched a guitar, microphone or drum-set ever again

        • Aaron R A

Mr. Elpants, why is it that every time I see your name there’s some exceptionally dumbass comment underneath of it?

      • Dysenteric

You’re right. But I stand by what I say.

While I don’t think this is a travesty to music, I hate to see a band just appear from the ether with a debut album, full US tour, HD documentary, professionally made up myspace page etc etc. I think the term “commercial” is plastered all over everything I’ve seen about them.

Hell, you can cure AIDS if you rub enough money in the wounds.

      • Dysenteric

HD documentary? Now we are all doomed, hahaha… I’m surprised that it didn’t come in a 3D option with a bonus feature of the “Awake” music video where the band members are depicted as those blue creatures from Avatar.

Being serious for a second, I agree with this. I don’t think it’s right that some band gets overly popular nearly overnight and that they have everything professional set out for them, regardless of talent and whether they deserve it or not.

To add to what I said above, it’s not the worst album I’ve ever heard, but it is definitely one of the wussiest I’ve ever experienced. All versions of the fucking Caramelldansen song are more intimidating than this record. And all that is my opinion.

These guys have actually been at it for a few years now. Since they were in their mid teens. The fact that they are 20 doesn’t mean that they just sprung up over night. Originally they were just called Mutiny and had a full on harsh vocal approach. Basically sounded identical to early CoB. I would actually say this shows a ton of growth but I fail to find it overly commercial. Can’t say I could picture this album topping the charts any time soon.

Then again, commercial in south west Ohio may be vastly different than elsewhere. We are a bit behind the times here I think.

  • CONFIRMED

    Wow….

  • Sambo

I love this album! I already heard the whole thing thanks to a torrent I downloaded about a month ago but it’s on my “to-buy” list.

  • http://thenumberoftheblog.wordpress.com/ groverXIII

I loved this album when I got my hands on it a while ago… still a great listen.

  • Jack

I’m pretty sure these guys are going to be the next Dragonforce. I can see the kiddies eating this shit up.

  • CYN1C

    Scar Symmetry does it better.

    • Oden

I tried Scar Symmetry but just couldnt get into them. These guys, however, sound good on the first spin. I could see them going the way of soilwork though…

      • Discipleofthewatch

Even Holographic Universe??? (Which is like coffee to me, and which I listen to pretty much every single morning?)

        • Oden

I’ll check it out and get back to you, after i check out the swallow the sun release i just found out about…

  • hikizume

    good shit

  • metalguy

i loved awake and im not really feeling the next two tracks. are there any others on the album that have the same kind of feel awake does?

  • Silü

HELL YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THERE’S NO WASTE ON THIS ALBUM… FROM THE FIRST TO THE LAST SONG… AWESOME! It’s been a while since I listened to some new badass band… YOU ROCK!

  • ty

Fucking kickass already been listening toit non stop for weeks

  • Discipleofthewatch

The album is awesome, and the guys are very talented.

  • The Sorrow 753

This album is so fucking good. I AM GOING TO BUY THIS WHEN IT COMES OUT!!

  • The Sorrow 753

A fucking amazing end to an amazing album!

  • Bicro

I guess it sounds like As I Lay Dying crossed with KsE.

    Meh.

  • Plasmaterial

Not bad. Reflections is the strongest track for mine. Anyone agree there is a little bit of Into Eternity influence?

  • Max

I like this band. The signing is a litlte too much upfront in the mix in my opinion but its still pretty good.
Reminds me of All that remains with better signing and less being emo.

  • King Cheezit

Just bought it off iTunes, which includes 3 live versions for Awake, Images and Lethean. God damn iTunes, I’m one of those who would still rather hold a CD in my hand and I’m only 21…but I’m a sucker for live audio!

  • meekal

I’ve had this for so long, that I’ve already taken it out of my heavy rotation.
It’s definately a solid album, though.
I’ll probably end up listening to it a little more often in the near future now.

  • CrunchyMilk

Like Dragonfire meets 3 Inches of Blood… and I kind of like it.

  • CrunchyMilk

I mean Dragonforce, whatever, fuck off.

    • jordaniac89

Yeah except unlike dragonforce, these guys are a) actually talented and b) not a bunch of drunk retards trying to look cool.

  • Poopenshaft

    I really dig this album.
