“NO MORE TEARS” FOR THE DEPATURE OF ZAKK WYLDE. OK, MAYBE JUST A FEW.

Axl and I have seen Ozzy a bunch of times together, but with Zakk Wylde’s departure dismissal from the band last year the chances that we’ll ever see the Ozzman perform “No More Tears” — the most epic of all Ozzy songs — live in its entirety are dwindling. Not that Ozzy shows are that exciting these days anyway unless you consider a hobbled frog stomp, a fire house and reading from a teleprompter “exciting,” but that time Ozzy played the 2nd stage at Ozzfest in New York was really, really fucking cool.

Not that we think Zakk’s dismissal was a bad thing. I think we both agree that Ozzy badly needed some fresh songwriting and guitar blood. But two dudes who listened to No More Tears ad nauseam in their adolescence (and fuck it, still do) can dream, can’t they?

Thanks to Noisecreep for posting this 2002 live video of “No More Tears” at the Budokan in Japan that I didn’t even know existed. It’s way better than that nearly unwatchable version filmed in the early/mid ’90s that has camera cuts so fast they make me fucking dizzy.

Zakk’s a fucking animal man, but you guys nailed it. There needs to be some fresh creative juices flowin in camp Ozzy. I’d actually like to se Ozz lock himself away in a castle in England with Gus G- kick Sharon out of the process and deliver us some tasty new material. I know the Blizzard’s got it in him for one more record.

And I do feel bad for Zakk, if you read Ozzy’s new book. He mentions Zakk in one whole whopping sentence. Pretty shitty gratitude to the guys who saved your career (again).

It’s not like Ozzy who was the one who wrote the book, or edited it. So I wouldn’t necessarily blame him for any absence of Zakk in it.

      • Hammer_Smashed_Hurtt

True, but i still cal bullshit.

  • TXHellbilly

Well with BLS backing out of a European festival over the weekend to “do a large tour” my guess is they are going to hit the road with Ozzfest this summer

    • cougar party

      you’re probably right

    fucking agree.

  • Brian \m/(-_-)\m/

haha, rob trujillo. also, is that mike bordon on drums?

    • ceth carter

Damn right thats Mike Bordin. He isthe fucking man. Where did that Zakk Wylde go. He certainly wrote some of the tastiest riffs ever on that album.

    • Kuranes

      That was a killer lineup.

That song totally sounds like a Faith No More song if it wasn’t for the geriatric mumbling in front of the mic. Also, lawl @ Mike Bordon on drums. Also, is it just me or is Metalsucks’ Mobile theme taking over randomly?

  • ColinJ

That’s probably the best Ozzy has sounded for a very long time.

In spite of my complete inability to give a shit about Ozzy, that is one bitchin live video. Rob Trujillo, Zakk Wylde and Mike Bordin as your backing band? That is epic as fuck.

In fact, now that I think about it, that’s 2/3 of the lineup that recorded with Jerry Cantrell for his second solo album, Degradation Trip, and that piece of music was un-fucking-believable, so…no real surprise that this is awesome.

  • pigchop

I never get tired of Rob’s playing – the guy is rock solid.

Hey Hammer Smashed, did you read the whole book? There’s a good story about Zakk and Ozzy in the last chapter.

    • Hammer_Smashed_Hurtt

Ya I read the whole thing, I discounted it because its really not new, Zakk has told that story a million times.

I dunno I just think Zakk gets the shit end of it, he didnt salvage Ozzy’s career say the way Randy did, but he certainly breathed new life into it. Different approach, heavier guitar sound, better songwriting (IMO) He gave a whole chapter to Randy (well deserved!) I think Zakk deserved the same.
