CYNIC’S RE-TRACED WILL REINTERPRET?

I dunno if this old news and I’m just somehow learning about it now, but: Cynic have released the cover art for their new EP, Re-Traced, and as it turns out, it will be made up predominantly of “reinterpretations” of songs from 2008′s orgasm-inducing Traced in Air. Of course, this isn’t a total shock – the word “traced” appears in both album titles, and the teaser video for the release tipped us off that there would be some kind of remix/reinterpretation situation here (“Evolutionary Sleeper” has become “Evolutionary,” “Integral Birth” has become simply “Integral,” etc.). I guess I was hoping that the new song we’ve already kinda sorta heard, “Wheels Within Wheels,” wouldn’t be the only debut track here. Not that “Wheels” isn’t awesome, but… I WANT NEW CYNIC! I’m greedy like that, I suppose.

Still, I’m curious to see what the band has done, exactly, to “reinterpret” these tracks. Presumably this will be well above and beyond your average rehash/remix record…

Re-Traced comes out May 17 on Season of Mist.

blah I want new Cynic remixes bore me

Seconded, the teaser bits they had in the promo didn’t sound stellar enough to satisfy…

I want new Cynic too, but they aren’t remixes. Do you even know what that word means?

      • Timbodini

Indeed… the tracks are reinterpretations not remixes. Get it right people!

I have faith that these reinterpretations will be far better than most expect. Cynic doesn’t seem like the kind of band that would do a shit job just to make a quick buck. I’m sure there’s a purpose to them reinterpreting the songs.

Yeah, this fact came up when the EPK was first posted on this website. Fairly certain of that, considering that was how I found out about it in the first place…

I am also greedy, but my prediction is there will be no new Cynic until 2012.
