METALLICA: RIOT THE LIGHTNING

As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Metallica played a show in Bogota, Colombia, on Wednesday night, and I guess everyone in the crowd was all hopped up on some fine Colombian cocaine, because the place went apeshit. There was a riot; three people were stabbed; a police officer was seriously injured; and at least 160 people were arrested.

There’s no word yet on whether or not there’s any truth to the rumors that the riots started after the 30,000 fans in attendance were all forced to listen to the band play post-Justice era material, but there is video of the ensuing chaos:

So it’s good to know that Lars has been trading industry secrets with his pal Axl Rose.

    Lame joke. But the whole riot started at the end of the show. People who didn’t have a ticket started the whole shitstorm but acording to people that went inside, the organization was great and it was a bad ass show. I’m Colombian and it’s pretty sad to see this shit happening.

    Ok, I know it’s a joke, and i’m no Lars fan, but it’s not far to compare them to Axl/GNR. Axl starst riots by NOT playing or finishing a show, this happened after the show and had nothing to do with the band!

    weill AXL I was at that show, and let me tell you something, here we produce cocaine but not for us, all that product goes to europe and USA, we just like to smoke some pot and that is…there wasnt nobody stabbed, and they were only 40 people arrested, and that happened because they didnt get tickets…about the show, fortunately they just played 5 songs from Magnetic, and the other part was mostly MoP and RtL stuff, it was probably the best concert we had in this decade, and you know why? because Mastodon opened the show and Metallica did it great

    Everyone seems to be forgetting that there were huge riots when Maiden played Bogota just over a year ago. Having said that, their gig there the year before that went down ok. I guess it’s like LaceratedDude said, it’s just certain people starting shit.
