ITUNES THINKS BRIAN POSEHN HAS SHITTY TASTE IN MUSIC, IS MADE OF FARTS

We’ve spoken at great length about our love for Brian Posehn, who has to be one of the five funniest stand-up comedians working today. He’s also a colossal metalhead, which is just kind of a bonus, ’cause not only does he make you laugh, but he makes you feel like maybe there’s some world where he isn’t famous or you’re cooler, and the two of you are pals, sitting around rockin’ out to Anthrax albums. Sigh.

ANYWAY, Posehn’s new album, Fart and Wiener Jokes, seems like it should come out on 4/20, but it’s actually coming out on 4/27 on Relapse. As with his last album, there will be some metal songs with comedic lyrics (and guest appearances by Scott Ian, Jamey Jasta, Mark Morton, John Tempesta, and Russ Parrish), but there will also be a lot of his brilliant stand-up stuff on there. And now two clips have been released. As though there were any doubt, they’re great, and bode really well for the album as a whole.

    LIke, seriously, if you like metal — which I’m guessing you do — Posehn’s sh*t is a total must-have. It’s like you and your friends talking, but totally f*in’ funnier.

    i am a huge fan. but i can name a bunch of better current comedians. Todd Barry, Eugene Mirman, Patton Oswalt, Paul F. Tompkins, Zack Galifianakis, Mike Birbiglia, Maria Bamford, Stewart Lee, Michael Showalter, Steven Wright, Jimmy Pardo and my personal favorite right now, Kyle Kinane.

      Some of that list I don’t like, some I would agree with. I have seen a lot of those live, including Posehn, Mirman, Oswalt, Bamford and Galifianakis. Barry, Oswalt, Galifianakis, Bamford are better or as good as Posehn..Birbiglia SUCKS, Mirman is OK (Posehn far better), Tompkins also OK and overrated (Posehn better), Wright’s older stuff was good not so impressive any more, and I have never heard Showalter, Pardo or Kinane’s stuff.

      So as far as quality comedy that’s somewhat edgy, I think Posehn is up there with David Cross, Oswalt, Bamford, Barry, Galifianakis, Greg Giraldo (one of my favs), and obviously Chris Rock, Chappelle, Louis C.K.

    How is this guy considered funny? Just because he likes metal and does bits on it doesn’t make him good…

    I sat through 10 minutes of his routine and didn’t come close to laughing even once; all his stuff is predictable and delivered poorly.

      90% of his stuff isn’t about metal. Go listen to more than 10 minutes. I’ve seen him live twice, he’s quite funny.

    Dude this guy isn’t funny at all. You just want to suck his dick off because he likes metal. There’s no way he could be considered one of the funniest comedians today. Fart and weiner jokes? Please.

    Check out some Chris Rock, Doug Benson, Aziz (don’t know his last name but he’s Indian) Katt Williams and of course the late Mitch Hedberg. Dave Chappelle too.

      Rock, Chappelle and Hedberg aren’t active right now, Benson is to weed as Posehn is to metal, and i am not a fan of Williams at all. i’ll give you Aziz Ansari, though. that dude is great.

      I don’t think anyone is saying Posehn is better than a legend like Chris Rock, and as the other person said, Chappelle is on hiatus (please come back) and Hedberg is dead, thus not making new stuff. Katt Williams and Benson are both even more one-dimensional than Posehn (I can only listen to so many gansta and weed jokes, respectively). I agree that Aziz Ansari is hilarious, but Posehn is one that level easily. The fact that Posehn is a metalhead is just a cool little extra aspect about him, 95% of his stuff isn’t about metal (as well as his funniest stuff isn’t about metal), and if you think “Fart and Weiner Jokes” isn’t professional enough or something, you just don’t get Posehn.

    Posehn sucks so much donkey wang it’s not even funny, but what do you expect from anyone who has a MySpace page, and looks like a paedophile, which he most likely is when you factor in the social-networking.
