Short n’ sweet: as you probably already know, DEP’s new album, Option Paralysis, comes out one week from today. As is so often the case in modern times, the band is now streaming the entire album here. Go listen. Then come back and let us know what you think.

And sometime real soon we’ll be posting an interview with the band.

Been listening to it since last night. I think I’m in love.

  • Wolfinger

Great fuckin’ album. I’m really digging it. Seems like they saw what they did wrong in Ire Works and simply one-upped their previous work. Much better than Calculating Infinity, IMO.

    • Genial Gentile

Ha…you know the “I-only-liked-the demos-guy” will be crying foul on your statement. I’ve loved every minute of watching this band evolve.

  • Chris

Yeah, I agree. It’s pretty sweet. Good blend of melodic and aggressive. In parts it’s more technical/mathy than Ire Works, but in areas it seems like they’re experimenting with other genres more than Ire Works also.

  • Jo

Does anyone know what is going be in the $80 box set?

Haha, all I remember is that it comes with a universal TV zapper, so you can turn off television sets in bars, in people’s houses when you’re walkin’ down the street, etcetera. Brilliant!

This band is awesome, and they get better with every record. “Gold Teeth on a Bum” is so good I puked. “Parasitic Twins” is so good I reverse-puked. The whole record is phenomenal. Well done, lads!

  • Steve

I’m almost done, but greg puciato has his vocals nailed down on this aggressive yet melodic album, not as good as calculating infinity, but definitley a step back in the right direction. Much better than Ire Works and Miss Machine.

  • Spanky

Just saw them last night and they fucking destroyed! They were beating the fucking lights and Greg was climbing on the speakers punching them…amazing show

    • The Roan

      i was there

    • Dilznoofus

      Yeah, they were fucking awesome.

  • Kye

This is the first album by them I’ve been album to listen to more than 3 songs on without getting annoyed.

I know I’m in the minority here, but I never really got into these guys. In fact, I used to loathe their music. Not actually sure what it is that I like here that wasn’t in the older stuff, but whatever it is, I’m actually interested in these guys now.

If this grows on you, you should consider giving their other albums another chance.

I don’t feel like it’s quite as diverse as Ire Works, but it’s definitely more focused and mature. I feel like Greg’s lyrics may be a bit too predictable during some of the more melodic parts, though, but it’s really only a small gripe. Probably the most cohesive thing they’ve done since Calculating Infinity… although I love Ire Works too, and Mouth Of Ghosts is probably my favorite song ever.

  • hyperkulturemia

I’m one of the few that hated Ire Works. Not because of the experimental/poppy songs, but because I felt they phoned in the aggro ones. This one strikes a balance between the two and I’m loving it. Fan-fucking=-tastic.

    • pariah

agree on the phoned-in aggressive songs…this album is so much better

  • jeff

This is great stuff. I love Good Neighbor, Endless Endings, and Room Full of Eyes. The piano on I Wouldn’t if You Didn’t was also very cool. I am definitely getting this.

    Awesome. I’m hyped about this!

  • rickyslate

This album rules so much. Definitely gonna pick up a copy on the 23rd.
