HOLY SHIT… SEEN SLASH’S LOVE LETTER YET?

I don’t know how this hasn’t made more headlines, given all the hype around Slash’s forthcoming solo album, but: Letters of Note, a website that collects “correspondence deserving of a wider audience,” has unearthed a letter that a fourteen year old Saul Hudson – that’s Slash to you – wrote to Michelle Young, a girl who had recently dumped him for talking about his guitar too much (!), and who would go on to be the subject of Guns N’ Roses’ classic, “My Michelle.”

The letter, written in 1979, features the (not too shabby!) doodles you see above, plus heartfelt Slashian poetry as this:

But any I’m glad we got that straight, thank you for not lying to me. To get off the subject, you look really nice today, you get prettier & prettier every day. My weekend was pretty good. Steve came by and we went to a couple parties, and we went to the Starwood, I spent pretty much of my weekend on cloud 9 if you know what I mean.

I had never been in the Starwood before, like, we hung around outside, but I’ve never been inside. It’s not such a hot place, I mean the Bands are alright, the girls are pretty (I still think you cuter than any of the girls there) the drugs are cool but it’s not a place I would want to waste my life at. The most exciting part of the night was, a guy mouthed off to this black guy, and the black got a hundred friends and chased him around all Hollywood. It’s a pretty crazy place. I’m going there next week to see Quiet Riot, because I hear there pretty good. One of these days I’ll play there.

Oh, Slash, you lothario, you. Are you sure you’re not the one who wrote the lyrics to “Sweet Child O’ Mine?”

And by the way, “Steve,” if you haven’t figured it out, is original Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler.

I wonder how it worked out for that Quiet Riot band. Huh.

Thanks to Saul Hudson – the MS tipster, not the dude who grew up to be Slash – for the link!

Is that seriously a love letter? I couldn’t tell, other than with the “pretty” shit. Other than that, it could have been to anybody.

‘Apparently’ Adler plays on one of the bonus tracks – “Baby Can’t Drive” along with Flea, Alice Cooper, and Nicole Scherzinger Adler has pics up on his myspace showing himself, Flea and Slash working in some studio.
