THEY’RE STANDING IN THE SNOW ‘CAUSE THE SONG IS CALLED “FROZEN.” GET IT?

MetalSucks Maniac Alexander S. wrote in about Black Sun Aeon last year, and the Vince wrote about Black Sun Aeon, and then I, being an asshole, still did not check them out. But now I just watched their video for the song “Frozen,” and all I can say is, “Whoops.” I’m really digging this band; I mean, I could live without the clean vocals, and the video itself is about as exciting as a slide show of Aunt Sadie’s trip to the Grand Canyon, but everything else about this, I like. Really. I’m not being a jerk.

“Frozen” comes of an album called Routa, which is out now. I’ll have to check that out.

Tis indeed a good track. Would be tedious without the clean vocals though.

Interesting that this is essentially another one-man studio project. Their MySpace page says that additional “dark” vocals are provided by Tomi Koivusaari of Amorphis, who doesn’t even do any singing for that band anymore at all.

Yes… interesting indeed! I was going to mention that the clean vocals kind of remind me of the clean vocals on Tales from the Thousand Lakes-era Amorphis; the clean vocals on this and Thousand Lakes seem (to me anyway) a little out-of-place with the rest of the music. That said, Thousand Lakes is still one of my favorite Amorphis releases, and this Black Sun Aeon sounds pretty cool too!

The album is really good, But its very long.
I recommend to any Swallow the Sun fan, Melo-Death fan, or anyone crazy about Finnish music.
