NEW AVENGED SEVENFOLD SINGLE HITS THE INTERWEBZ!

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 at 11:00am by

The long-awaited new single “Nightmare” from Avenged Sevenfold has hit the webernets, and, no surprise: it’s sweet!

“Wait, what’s that?” I hear you e-ruminating. “Vince and Axl like Avenged Sevenfold?”

‘Tis true; astoundingly, it’s permissible to like Avenged Sevenfold, Dew Scented and Keep of Kalessin all at the same time. Shocking! Longtime readers of this site surely remember the run-up we gave Avenged Sevenfold prior to the release of their last album, a Use Your Illusion 2-esque masterpiece. Simply put, they’re pop metal geniuses of our time! Sure, they may look and dress like a bunch of clowns, but anyone who has wicked musical an songwriting chops like these guys do is allowed to dress however the fuck they want. Shit, they could don actual clown makeup and go all ICP and they’d still be the shit as long as they kept cranking out killer tunes.

I’d wager that 99.9% of you who grew up listening to hard rock / metal would like this band too if you’d never seen photos of them. I’d also wager that 99.9% of you didn’t come out of the womb br00tal and did in fact listen to (and still do) hard rock / pop metal when your kvlt friends aren’t looking. Except for “Grim” Kim Kelly; she definitely came out of the womb with a Burzum album in hand. Congrats to Kim Kelly for being the one person expressly qualified not to like Avenged Sevenfold.

But for the rest of you, hey, check out the sweet new Avenged Sevenfold song “Nightmare”! It’s got everything; grand orchestrations, twin-leads a plenty, a scorching guitar solo, a catchy chorus, M Shadows’ Axl Rose snarl, and yup, Mike Portnoy’s drums (which sound just like The Rev’s presumably would’ve, since The Rev basically worshipped the guy). And thankfully, I’m pretty sure this song doesn’t have the one thing I don’t like about Avenged Sevenfold; their politics.

Countdown ’til readers who started frequenting this site in the past year or so jump ship… now! See ya later.

  • cougar party

I agree. Avenged Sevenfold is good, their image is ridiculous, but whatever.

    • facefacefack

This horrible, horrible song begs to differ.

      • SomeKid

The band is good, but Matt Shadows might have the most irritating voice I’ve ever heard. It sounds like he has a carrot up his nose.

        • cougar party

I think M. Shadows writes great vocal melodies, but I don’t really care for his singing on anything after Waking the Fallen.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/William-Morley/618112437 William Morley

I don’t see why everyone cites Waking the Fallen as their last “good album”. That piece of shit was nothing but the most generic metalcore, anyone who likes that has terrible taste in music. I don’t really like any of their stuff, mainly because I hate Guns n Roses and the influence is too prominent for me, but I’d take this over the terrible metalcore they used to write any time.

        • Coop

Exactly! These guys are all great musicians, but he makes every song sound so stupid. It’s like Axl Rose being twice as annoying, (I never liked GnR either.) Otherwise, these guitarists are really fantastic.

    • Ben

Don’t you mean GAY SEVENFOLD? There are thousands of bands who deserve more attention than these dipshits. They suck as much dick as Chester Bennington…

      • Nick

        Really? “Gay Sevenfold”? I’m impressed

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/William-Morley/618112437 William Morley

Avenged Sevenfold aren’t actually worth thinking up a witty nickname for.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Andy-AMoney-Hally-/5821232 Andy AMoney Hally Σχ

Yo dude, you don’t have to shit on Waking to reaffirm that your taste in metalcore is more refined. Judging from your cartoon Metal/punk shirt you like the screamo-type metalcore bands. Thats not bad, a lot of good musicianship amongst bands those bands. But many of the bands prefer a style of all smashing on their instruments in unison. (i like understanding lyrics to a song) Your not any harder or edgy by saying the Waking the Fallen is generic or shitty. It isn’t. It may be another derivation from the broad genre of metalcore, but it isn’t shitty. I agree, A7X may have gone mainstream over the years but you would be hard pressed to find many musicians better than these guys. These guys are influenced by 80′s heavy metal like Maiden. Modern metalcore bands like Protest are influenced in the same way. I don’t think you have any right to define metalcore infact. It was born in the states, the two biggest producers being Mass and Southern California. My hometown produced Hatebreed in the mid-90′s, who are fundamentally the most metal-influenced hardcore band out there. Bands today are just following suit. Cookie cutter metalcore bands incorporating keyboard to be different from the last band. I don’t presume to say that i have a better taste in music than anyone else, but i love Waking the Fallen. It introduced me to the entire new metal scene. I’ve listened to pretty much every new band that has come out and none have had a sophomore album as good as A7X’s except maybe Protest the Hero’s Fortress. You just can’t come on a metal blog and make inflammatory remarks about a subject so broad and then hide behind the impersonality of the internet. I love A7X and Waking the Fallen is great album. I feel i have quite a developed taste in music. You can continue to listen Suicide Silence, Architects, Bring Me the Horizon, Horse the Band, Chelsea Grin, iwrestledabearonce, JFAC (correct me if i’m wrong HOTTOPIC shirt) and tell me there’s nothing generic about your perspective of metalcore. I mean every new gaddamn band name is some form of sentence fragment. Anyway I’m tired of be right. Check urself before u wreck urself willy.

      • A7X foREVer

You have just slagged off all my heroes with one intolerant comment: WELL FUCKING DONE, YOU CUNT!!

Chester Bennington and Avenged SEvenfold have both been through horrific times in their lives and they have achieved so much. I doubt you can say the same. SHOW SOME FUCKING RESPECT!!

  • drunkwithpower

The art for the single looks just like the Cruel Hand “Lock and Key” artwork. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence. I’ll still stick to listening to Cruel Hand, though.

    • Quinn

very similar for sure but ryan eyehand kills this artwork. cruel hand fucking rules.

  • Alex R

I found this song to be exactly like their past 2 albums, more of the same. It’s gotten old, and to be honest Mike Portnoy is not even a factor in most of the song. Wasn’t impressed to say the least.

    • Brian \m/(-_-)\m/

im a huge a7x fan but i couldnt agree more. this is more of the same from the self-titled and diamonds (though diamonds was just tracks that didnt make it on 2 a7x so i guess it makes sense that those 2 albums sound the same). i mean its a good track and all but im getting a very KSE sense of deja vu here. as far as the drumming, i mean it sounds like a7x drumming, where i think portnoy will shine is in the live setting, which is why i plan on going 2 catch uproar this summer. id actually really like 2 c him behind the kit for these guys at a show

    • Ares

I thought it was garbage, man. I got to 1:31 before going. “That’s enough.”

  • gnarlk

“nightmare” is an apt title for this song…

    • Ares

+1 It’s a nightmare where you have to listen to a band with the world’s worst singer for an abysmal eternity.

  • ceth carter

Stupid images and nick names aside…..I like the band.Like said above it is possible to like them and not lose any metalness. Dont be scared kiddos. Just because it has a hook and you might hear it on the radio doesnt make it bad. I grew up on Guns N Roses though, maybe that has something to do with it.

  • The Impaler

    Loltroll

  • Andy Synn

I too enjoy my A7X. And i’m cool enough to be able to address them by acronym rather than typing out their name in long-hand (although perhaps the benfits of that have been undone by having to write this long explanation?).

They do get a lot of shit, some deserved, some not, however i’ve always said that if you look at them objectively they remind me of Dream Theater in a lot of ways, all the members are incredibly talented individually and they spend their times writing remarkably varied songs full of stupid (in the good way) instrumentation and virtuosity.

I’m actually always surprised that they have become such a big thing in America as they have, considering their tendency towards DT-esque pomposity. Still, I suppose that’s down to a very effective marketing strategy.

    Either way, good for them.

    • Andy Synn

Wrote that before listening to the song…

Anyone else think it’s rather… awkward… for a single choice? The verses and vocal lines are all oddly long and oddly timed.

Still, seems to be sticking to the formula they discovered – Danny Elfman keys, Pantera rhythm guitars, Dream Theatre lead guitars, axl rose vocals (which i’ve got to say, are easily the weakest part – the vocals and lyrics).

      • AntiqueHighHeelRedDollShoes

agreed. It sounds kinda like re-hashed material and yeah, awkward. Not sure if this one’s gonna grow on me. Dont think it gives a good impression of the band despite Vince’s positive review

  • James

    Still sounds like crap.

  • Alex_P

I don’t think there’s all that much difference between Avenged Sevenfold and Keep of Kalessin, actually.

    • SourDeez

Wherever you live, I want to move there. Because they must have the best fucking acid in the universe.

      • bleak46n2

        +1…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Sean-Heron/9391234 Ryan Sean Heron

Avenged sevenfold have a handful of good songs ; including mostly the earlier material;but overall they’re posers who try wayyyyyy too hard to be cool and they’re music reflects that.

    • Gil

They appear to be posers, however, they willingly admit that they are trying to live the rock n’ roll dream. But despite that, I think they write pretty damn catchy tunes.

  • That Guy

These dudes have been my favorite band since Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and I love that they have grown into what they are now… The dudes know song structure and their musicianship is ridiculous… Kerry King also came out of the womb br00tal playing guitar at 240 bpm… just an FYI

  • soy el niño más bonito

this song is pretty meh, but as you said they’re pop metal now so i guess you gotta take it as it is, and for what it is it’s pretty good. oh well. i’ll just keep listening to waking the fallen and city of evil.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sanskar-Wagley/1376400331 Sanskar Wagley

too hard rock, but Mike Portnoy is drumming!

  • http://www.flamingtusk.com Zosimus

I think any enjoyment I could derive from Avenged Sevenfold was drained away by friends playing The Beast And The Harlot in Guitar Hero 2 waaaaaaay too many times.

  • Connor

    this new song blows.

  • Dave

They need to get a new singer.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Andrew-Sterner/1335958279 Andrew Sterner

This. I can’t listen to any of their songs because of the cat being raped. And I don’t mean that in a good way like when I talk about Brent Hinds(he makes a much more metal “cat being raped” noise).

  • http://www.myspace.com/thestarsthrewdowntheirspears Tim

Anybody else recognize the intro as Porcelain Heart by Opeth? The first phrase, at least, is extremely similar.

  • Spencer

while i usually agree with vince and axl i just cant bring myself to on this one. a7x sounds like it would be good if you were drunk off your ass, which im not, so it isn’t. and i guess i am just disappointed that competent metal heads are falling for shit like this. I mean those lyrics?! holy shit. they are so bad. i cant even think of a clever way to put it. the guitarist obviously have technical chops, but i dont really see the songwriting vince was talking about. i have nothing against pop-metal per se; if its done just right then i will indulge. but this garbage brings nothing new to the table whatsoever. and mr portnoy tries his best but is just not able to save this sinking ship of a song. i wish i could agree with axl and vince on this one, but i simply cant. pop-metal? more like poop-metal. what more can i say

    • soy el niño más bonito

i dont know why but poop-metal made me laugh really hard.

      NEW SUBGENRE! SOMEONE DO IT!

      • Jake Strangiato

“Poop metal”? Wouldn’t Torsofuck’s “Erotic Diarrhea Fantasy” fall into that category?

        • Andy Synn

          Skinless – “Pool Of Stool”

          • Alex_P

            Sikfuk– “Shitfist Superman”

          • soy el niño más bonito

            i need to get downloading.

  • evilfatguy

    Those lyrics are atrocious.

  • RayRay

I emailed AXL about this song a few weeks ago. And I got no response but my email was basically tearing this awful shit apart. I cant get over how bad this is. M.Shadows vocals are FUCKING AWFUL.

  • Kuranes

I agree that Avenged Sevenfold sound very influenced by Use Your Illusion-era Guns n Roses, which is okay because I grew up with that. I thought City of Evil was pretty good but never got into the last album.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Sean-Heron/9391234 Ryan Sean Heron

i’ve heard that over and over but I honestly have no fucking clue how anybody could possibly think such a thing. as a total GNR fanatic, it baffles me. first of all, GNR was a rock band and these guys are a metal band. these guys use tons of double bass while GNR almost never did. their guitar tone is nothing alike. their singers , nothing alike. I don’t see the connection even a little bit.

  • http://www.myspace.com/whitearmsofathena Josh

Waking the fallen is a bad-assed cd. Was when I was 16-17 and still is

  • kmfcm

Hated them from jump. Never saw a picture til “bat country”.
thought they were bad before the G’n'R mockery . . . . . And I like Versailles and Dir en grey.

    Just saying.

  • http://www.myspace.com/palehorseofhell lord assenfroth

wow, the vocalist sounds like james hetfield buttfucked atreyu’s drummer and they had a baby. guitars are boring, their chord progressions are so over done id rather listen to lady gaga diarrhea into starving african children’s mouths that finish listening to that song. As someone who actually enjoy’s post no more tears ozzy, i cant hate on someone for liking something horrible, but i do think this is horrible.

  • NothingNiceToSay

Hope this band goes the way of their drummer.

  • Anthony

I don’t like their music either. Their image is ridiculous too, but other than Bat Country which is catchy as hell I can’t get into their music.

  • Russell

I really like listening to Waking The Fallen but everything after that including this new single don’t have the same feel to them. I can’t get over his new vocal patterns like: “I try e yai e yai e yai e”. His voice has developed a more whiny tone to it. thumbs down for this one. Everyone is giving them more credit than they deserve now just because their drummer passed away. He will be missed but they aren’t the greatest band now because of it. I mean best drummer from Golden Gods?….

  • http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/46e389eb8b79606050d3d447431ff6ac?s=80 Nate

The drums during the intro just sounded… WRONG… for that band. It was pretty good, I ust wish they’d go back to the sound from City of Evil.

  • timmah

Mike Portnoy is the best thing about this track.

  • http://www.thedevilsdemons.com vp

They’re also republicans (I’ll assume that means they’re closeted homosexuals as well). Super sweet!

  • Sambo

It’s not bad to say the least but it’s not their best either. This song is like a less heavier version of Scream from their self-titled CD, which also wasn’t bad but at the same time, it’s not that great either.

  • bobovdeath

    whatever..this stupidass boy band sucks

they look like a bunch of damn clowns and have dumb names- “zacky vengence” hahaha what the fuck? who calls themselves that?

the song blows too, like all their other songs

and a bunch of whiny emo poofs having conservative shithead politics is even more stupid

avenged sevenfold can eat my shorts..yeah their drummer died, but lots of people die, alot of em thru no fault of their own,so thats not enough to make me like this crummy boy band crap

  • (required)

Pretty non-descript. Not even sure if I just heard it. I remember hitting play, and then…white noise.

  • http://www.myspace.com/alexhaskett alex haskett

i will say this here and now that since i first heard about avenged sevenfold in 2005 to this day i haven’t been a fan. This song was the last chance i was giving the band, i went in with an open mind and you know what?….I didn’t like it, thats all there is to it. It has nothing to do with what they look like (although i do think they look like idiots) and it has nothing to do with their stage names (which i think are stupid), i Just don’t like the song or any song i’ve heard by them.

  • Dimmu Burger

it sounds like shadows, (or whatever the fuck his tellytubby name is) is copying hetfields stupid wom-ah vocals in some parts of this song. the guitars sound nice and heavy, but seriously. his vocals are worse than a talking asshole.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mark-James-Irwin/612231572 Mark James Irwin

Not a bad first impression of what the new album will be like. Portnoy is a fucking beast, as usual.

  • HOT SAUCE

It seems to be popular to hate these guys,i love black metal and they have some retardo names for themselves (Dead is dead lulz). Ah well, tracks not bad, everyone has a guilty pleasure, and they’re way better than most other pop crap/or smoking crack.

  • John

I love this band musically, but the singer makes me want to scoop out the part of my brain that perceives sound.

  • Strapping Young Lad

cool song. I haven’t really listened to these guys since City Of Evil, being that I liked Waking the Fallen a helluvalot more, but I’ll def. give this album a spin. Oh and that sounds like Portnoy on those fills.

  • csantos

Disturbed guy + Hetfield (months before Load) + Axl Rose (very, very drunk). Add a name to the drummer (but no drumming), rename an old song and boila!!!!

  • http://fantasyh.wordpress.com fantasyh

I agree, the music is fun “pop-metal” stuff that I can enjoy listening from time to time. But I can’t get over, and not for the lack of trying, their image. It somehow feels it will rub off on me just by listening to the tracks

    • Kevin

Pretty much exactly how I feel.

      Plus, Republican metal= Fail

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ben-Robson/1375985482 Ben Robson

i’ve never been a huge fan of this band…their older stuff was kind of cool except for the awful vocals, then city of evil came out and the vocals were even more awful and front-and-center…then i have no clue what they were thinking with the next album because it just sounded like a clusterfuck of awfulness irrespective of genre.

i guess if you look at them as “pop metal” they’re not an atrocity of music or anything, but i still don’t get the appeal. it all sounds so stale to me.

this new one is…okay? until the intro ends and the vocalist starts making vacuum cleaner noises with his throat. portnoy’s drumming is okay in context but the actual drum part is really boring and awful imo.

  • http://schenkeltown.blogspot.com SchenkelTown

i have always liked avenged sevenfold

it’s funny that these scary metal dudes will talk shit about avenged sevenfold’s looks, but then talk about how awesome behemoth, and dimmu borgir are…as if they don’t look fucking ridiculous in their white paint and chains

    • Igottawocket

Lets just say all those bands collectively look stupid shall we? I’ll stick to my Baroness and SYL where its more about music then your ridiculous look (hence why I won’t listen to A7X or Black Metal. I mean, besides the fact that both suck as well).

  • Devilfish

I’d rather shove a fork up my ass than listen to that again..

  • Scourge441

“I’d wager that 99.9% of you who grew up listening to hard rock / metal would like this band too if you’d never seen photos of them. I’d also wager that 99.9% of you didn’t come out of the womb br00tal and did in fact listen to (and still do) hard rock / pop metal when your kvlt friends aren’t looking.”

Because you HAVE to like all of the same music you did when you were 12, or else you’re a terrible person who deserves to die.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Derek-N-Selle/695396455 Derek N Selle

I caught on to Avenged Sevenfold with Waking the Fallen and loved that; when I first picked up City of Evil I thought it was the worst piece of shit I’d ever heard, but it grew on me. This song seems to suffer from the same ailment the last 2 albums did though – the choruses are more miss than hit. It seems like they put a lot of work into song structure, come to the chorus last, say “That sounds ok, let’s go with it” and waste an opportunity to throw a great hook into a pretty good song.

I still like the band, I just wish they could write more than one decent chorus hook per album.

  • SourDeez

These guys can play, but their songwriting and his vocals are nowhere near what they used to be.

    • SourDeez

Goddamn, he’s actually attempting to imitate modern Hetfield. This guy used to have a distinctive voice, and now he’s like “It’s yo fuckin nightmaaaaare ooh yeah-yah.” I practically expected him to break into the chorus of Fuel.

  • Igottawocket

No, I’m not required to like this band, nor will I. I’ll readily admit I like some popish metal (Trivium, All That Remains, the occasional Killswitch Engage, even Static-X every now and then etc) but this is way too fucking stupid. Save for Bat Country, this band is atrocious. Their new song sounds exactly the same as every other crap song they’ve ever written. Shitty vocals, shitty lyrics, and boring instruments with not much going on at all. It all sounds rehashed. That, coupled with their ridiculously stupid image and equally stupid bands is plenty enough reason for me to hate this band. If I want catchy choruses and singy stuff I’ll pick Trivium in a second over these guys.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rik-Powell/286400508 Rik Powell

Strangely enough I base my opinion on Avenged Sevenfold on the fact that they suck. The vocals in particular are unbearable. Then again, you guys like HIM, so this isn’t really a surprise.

  • Matthew Grant Anson

    Fuck this shit.

  • Killer Kovarik

it sounded ok, then when he shouted “nightmare” it all went downhill.
City Of Evil and Waking The Fallen are their only good albums and the only ones metalheads should even consider listening to.

  • zach

All those who are hating are missing out, and its a shame. I appreciate Metalsucks for finally having something good to say. A7X, while mainstream, understand the art of songwriting better than most musicians out there.

  • Isaac

Very good. Certainly not their best, but I like it.
And Axl, while I do disagree with most of their politics, I can’t argue with their stance on assisted suicide (see “Brompton Cocktail”).

    • cougar party

That’s one of the best songs on the record.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jacob-Wanous/714617966 Jacob Wanous

Anyone else think it’s about time Avenged quit writing the same song over and over and try something different?

    • gnarlk

i think it’s time these clowns just plain quit

  • http://heavybrutal.com/ familyghost

    listened to it. hated it.

  • ITTOA666

This song is atrocious, and thats coming from someone who was willing to give this a chance. The solo wasn’t even interesting, just like the rest of the song. God it sucks. This band needs to go away.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Brandon-Theodore-Forde/666126214 Brandon Theodore Forde

I dont get how you constantly hate on black metal but then can live with liking this shit.

  • Cope

Did I hear a hetfeild style si-eeee-de at the end of like the 6th line?

  • chaz

this is mad wack, they should really not put the lyrics up

  • BEZOAR

This has gotta be a joke. Holy fucking horrrrrrible.

  • uLy

It’s just too silly for me. Sure, I wouldn’t mind it playing at some dive bar while i shoot pool and drink beer but i’m definitely not having the CD in my car.

  • Justin

it started out alright, but the riffs were pretty bland. should’ve picked a better song if you guys wanted to announce how avenged sevenfold isn’t all that bad (which i agree with, because i did like city of evil and their self-titled because it was good music, if not great metal).

  • Devilinside3x6

I’m glad I’m not the only one who recognized the Hetfield-inspired vocals. It isn’t nearly as obvious as Trivium’s “The Crusade” which sounded like an album between Master and Justice that should never have been made. With A7X you have to pick and choose. On the first listen through the last album was good but it got kind of tired after a couple of weeks. Still, I like Brompton Cocktail and Gunslinger. City of Evil and Waking the Fallen have held up very well.

    Like what you like.

I like Mastodon and BTBAM because I genuinely enjoy the music. I also have T.I., Lady Gaga and Dixie Chicks ony my MP3. Will probably like a few songs off this album as well.

  • crimsonking58

Agree with a bunch above, it was certianly bearable until the vocals came in. His voice got even more nasally and whiny than on the last album. It saddens me that Mike had little to no influence on their sound, I was kinda hoping he would. Well, i’m gonna have to hear all the skinny jean fuckers talk about this for 3 weeks, then sweet summer grants freedom from the posers.

  • Nick

I’ve liked them for a long time saw them open for a bunch of bands back in the day, but when I saw them open for CKY when they were already big I couldn’t stand the crowd. It was a bunch of kids at their first rock concert and it was just not for me. Not that we weren’t all at our first rock concert at some point in my life, but it made me feel really old and it didn’t make the band seem legit when 14 year old girls were the majority of the crowd. They are good and do have talent but seeing them live kinda sucks.

  • Ben

These guys are so GAY, even their AIDS has AIDS. Someone should take a shit in their singers mouth, but he’d probably like it as much as an American Idol contestant…GAY7X!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Emmanuel-Quinones/100000463639580 Emmanuel Quinones

why were his cleans on wtf not irratating and now they suck so much ass, they soundve stuck to metalcore

  • ArbySKULLsplit

We’ll at least they’ve got the “12 – teen year old,I just lost my virginity” girls convinced.
Otherwise it seems that anyone who had even the slightest bit of good to say realized half way through writing their comments that they’ve got nothing hahahaha.

  • http://reaper-x.deviantart.com/ Reaper-X

I’ve listened to the whole song… No breaks or interruptions.

It’s boring. Not because it’s not “tr00 kvlt” but because it’s underwhelming.

The lyrics are tired and dudes vocals are NASALY. Like dude, if you can hit the notes well enough, do it, but GET THE FUCK OUT OF YOUR NOSE. “NEERGH FUCKIN NIGHTMEER” It’s even worse with the hetfield-isms.

Goddammit. The music just sounds standard too. Like this is the usual thing to expect from several other bands.

Portnoy didn’t suck, but I don’t think he could have helped make this a superb song, so fuck it.

  • Chris

i dnt understand how you guys could say shadows voice sucks when his voice has gotten at least 40x better since they started ill admit that some parts on city of evil were a little hard to listen to cause of the vocals but his voice is awesome now and it’s very unique. especially considering all the screaming vocals in metal nowadays drive me up a fucking wall cause i just does not sound good….at all

Bat Country was the song that got me into rock music it fucking blew me away the first time i heard that shit and got me into rock/metal music

they r honestly one of the most creative bands out today in this world of shitty music we have now there is nothing fabricated about them at all and u could trace every type of music i listen to back to city of evil from fucking rock, metal, pop, punk, acoustic shit, and even nylon string flamenco type of guitar

They blew me away the first time i heard them and they continue to surprise me and blow me away with every song i hear from them cause its always something u dnt expect

and as for the lyrics being ridiculous have u listened to some metal bands lyrics/names?

Always liked Avenged Sevenfold and no disrespect to The Rev but Portnoy shows how limited the Rev was. Listen carefully- No triggers by Portnoy and the drums sound so much more organic and less mechanical. a7x sound a lot tighter. But The Rev was good and a loss for sure- just think Portnoy makes the band better-

    Fuck ‘em all.

Fuck this hard rock trendshitty band for the radios.

So I hear all these “Bat Country is the best song ever” comments and I went and listened to it. Fuck you. That was fucking terrible.

the lyrics are definately metallica ‘load’ mixed with GnR use your illusion, reminds me of parts of coma and some other GnR songs…they are catchy and i do find myself listening to alot of their stuff but some of it is so fricken cheesy its embarassing, i have gone to listening to waking the fallen myself now just for the more aggressive less over produced sound of songs like radiant eclipse and second heartbeat etc…..never get bored of those songs
