THE SHOWDOWN GOT BLOOD IN THEIR GEARS

Vince is really the Mansion’s resident fan of The Showdown, but Vince isn’t here today (all his posts were written in advance of his day out of the office), so I guess it’s up to me to tell you that the band is streaming a new song, “Blood in the Gears,” here. I have no way of knowing what Vince would make of it, but speaking for myself, well, it doesn’t really do anything for me. Then again, I’ve never really be a huge fan of this band, so I’m not really the target audience.

Hopefully Vince will have something more intelligent to say about the song upon his return, but in the meantime, you can check out the track and weigh in with your thoughts below. It’s the title song from the band’s forthcoming offering, which comes out August 24 on Solid State Records.

Good opening act for a Hell Yeah tour. Meh.

    Wait… I didn’t type that…

Ahem, anyway, I do legitimately really like The Showdown. Back Breaker was a great record, punchy and powerful. Heavy but with swagger. Different from much of what I usually listen to and good for it.

I even have a soft spot for their Southern Rock album. Cheesy, big-ass, massive Def-Leppard snare, stadium fun.

So, as you might expect I am thoroughly enjoying “Blood In The Gears”. Particularly as it also makes me thinkg of Dethklok. There’s a sense of Living Sacrifice-esque power in it, along with that “Lamb Of God” style swing – I know that’s a lazy comparison, but it seems the easiest one to make at the moment.

So yes. Good song. Good band. Probably won’t find many fans on metalsucks.

A great band. Their new stuff sounds a bit more generic, maybe because of the member changes, so I dunno if the new record will live up to Back Breaker, but I’ll check it out anyway.

These guys fucking rule. Plus, the lyrics don’t sound “Christian”, per se….they’re always singing about ancient kings and vengeance and stuff…who doesn’t like that?

  • lindsay.

…it sounds like living sacrifice because jeremiah produces both. sounds very 2nd album-ish..which im pretty sure no one REALLY favored.

I thought Back Breaker was a great balance of both their first and second albums. All three albums are awesome in their own respect and do repeat any past ‘formulas’ they have used in any previous effort. I can’t view myspace at work, so I haven’t listened to the new track yet, but I will just assume that it rules.

Not a bad track. This new album has a lot of pressure on it to be as good as Back Breaker was. That album is great on every level.
