MERCIFULLY, NAPALM DEATH ARE NOT “ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION”

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 at 4:00pm by

I haven’t actually rocked out/killed small animals to Napalm Death’s Time Waits for No Slave for awhile, but the just-released video for the song “On the Brink of Extinction” makes me wanna revisit it ASAP. The video’s not particularly amazing, and the basic concept – performance footage intercut with war footage – is one we’ve seen at least a thousand times before, possibly even in several other Napalm Videos.

But man oh man, does this song slay. If it doesn’t make you wanna put your fist through the wall, check your pulse.

Time Waits for No Slave is out now on Century. Only losers don’t have a copy.

Hah, I was just listening to that album last night.

The past 8 years Napalm Death have released some of the most potent material in their 25 year career. All hail the grindcore kings. Barney for Prime Minister.

+1. ND gets angrier and better over the time. not something you see happening with ‘founder’ bands.
      and Barney slays. true warrior.

  • Heywood

The first half of the vid is actually baby seal clubbing and whaling footage, not war. Certainly not as overdone as the strict b&w war only montage. Maybe its some sort of deep statement about human behavior?

    • FongChung

It’s what happens, when Barney Greenway flirts with the PETA owner. I hope Anal Cunt comes back, and offends every single one of you twats.

    • OldandTired

Ask the seals and the whales if they think it’s war.

      • >_>

        Lol +1

Besides, who actually likes napalm death anyways? *ducks as thousands of negative numbers begin to fly towards my comment*

Over the past 8 years, bands such as Nasum, Regurgitate, Rotten Sound have surpased Napalm Death. Grindcore kings HAHAHA ok. Yeah they released some solid material, but those three bands easily have blown Napalm Death off the stage numerous times. You know what ALL HAIL Brutal Truth.

    • NickV

Have you seen Napalm Death live? Fucking shit dude, they easily eat most modern grind bands alive. Albums are good, sound similar, but still good. Live though, fucking untouchable.

    • stu1

Didn’t Nasum break up 6 years ago when their singer was killer in a tsunami?

    • satanicbrutality

How the fuck can you say one band is better than the other!?!? It’s fucking grindcore!! Most people can’t even tell the difference between those bands.
All those bands kick ass, but NAPALM DEATH are the kings because they were doing it first.

While I agree that all the bands that you just listed are solid, all the Swedish grind you listed sound too much alike to surpass Napalm Death and their distinct sound. And Brutal Truth, while indeed brutal, would not even exist without the foundation that was set by Napalm Death.

ND have a bunch of shitty records
The 3 bands mentioned above have none.

      Correct

Time Waits is a fucking sweet Napalm Death album. Speaking of Napalm Death, I heard that Terrorizer is going to be releasing some new shit soon.

  • Ian

I liked them better when they did songs that were 7 seconds long

Best song on this album. Hands down.

  • KMFCM

    worst album in years

and the next one is gonna be worse, because this was just the sequel to “inside the torn apart”
the next one is gonna be the sequel to ‘words from the exit wound” and you remember how awful that record was

    • KMFCM

. . .and note, they are one of my favorite bands of all time

      but they’re going wrong again

and Nasum aren’t around to point them back in the right direction anymore

      so who’s gonna do it?

      (my guess is Magrudergrind)

“Over the past 8 years, bands such as Nasum, Regurgitate, Rotten Sound have surpased Napalm Death. ”

Umm… “Smear Campaign” destroys all those bands, hands-down. Napalm Death totally regained the throne with “Enemy of the Music Business” and haven’t let it go since.
