    I recently had a conversation with a co-worker sort of relating to how I feel about this video/song. I wonder, were I this age (late-20′s) in the 60′s, would I hate on hippies? Would I think, “Look at this asshole, it’s like they’re trying to out-hippy each other”?

    That’s more or less how I feel with the whole emo/scene/nu-goth thing. I feel like it’s a contest of who can get the straightest, most unnaturally colored hair, and who can find the most obnoxious clothing and accessories at Hot Topic. You don’t look hip and counter-culture in that 80′s sleeze rocker leather jacket; you look like a dick.

    Anyways, point being… fuck if I know? I just wanted to share that. I don’t think it’s fair to critique a band on how they look when what really matters is their music, so let’s touch base on that for a second.

    It blows. The end.

      I kinda agree with you on the music. Part of me wants to hate, but the more I listened I found myself kinda liking it. Their image just kinda befuddles me.

    Can you explain to me how this is any different to Enforcer, Cauldron or White Wizzard ? This really isn’t that bad… except it is for children, by children. I guarantee you if these guys were a older and had long greasy hair instead of their Anime Bouffants this article wouldn’t exist. They’re playing perfectly competent, if a little mainstream for my taste, metal.

      Replying to my own comment, which I have a habit doing, I can think of three songs that Metalsucks have posted that haven’t been anywhere near as bad as how I’d read them to be… Method’s of Mayhem, Rose Funeral and this. Doesn’t mean I like them, its just none of them were the worst things I’d heard in a long shot.

    Eh, better than expected. From their looks I was expecting five minutes of breakdowns and autotune. It’s pretty much like A7X, except they look even stupider. And while A7X are pretty bad they’re by no means terrible.

    If they took the clean vox out, it really wouldn’t be too horrible a song. It’s copycat Swedish style but it’s not as vomit inducing as other bands I’ve seen here.

    The song seems to be an amalgam of generic metalcore, screamo and Avenged Sevenfold, but lacks originality, that’s not to say that those genres or that band are ever particularly original.

    As much as the dire image is reflected in the lyrics, I don’t actually hate the music. There’s clearly better metal (I’ll risk calling it metal, since the riffing is reminiscent of melodeath; these guys clearly listen to As I Lay Dying, who are pretty much a melodeath band with fewer blast beats and more breakdowns), but Black Veil Brides seem significantly more listenable than Asking Alexandria or Attack Attack or St. Anger.
