NEW CEPHALIC CARNAGE ALBUM ART IS CHOICE; NEW MURDERDOLLS ALBUM ART, NOT SO MUCH

I usually get kinda depressed around Labor Day weekend, ’cause it means that summer is pretty much over, and soon it will be colder than a witch’s tit again. But the dudes in Cephalic Carnage have pretty much guaranteed that this summer is gonna end with a bang — Relapse has announced an August 31 release date for Cephalic’s first album in more than three years, Misled by Certainty. Check out the metal-as-a-motherfucker cover art:

Presumably, the band will start debuting new material live when they start the MetalSucks co-sponsored Summer Slaughter tour, which begins in less than three weeks! Get dates here.

Meanwhile, Murderdolls have also released the cover art for their album, Women and Children Last, which comes out the very same day on Roadrunner:

I get demos from unsigned goth bands that look like that all the time. I hope Murderdolls at least saved money on their budget. Sheesh.

And I guess that’s probably the first and last time Murderdolls and Cephalic Carnage have been mentioned in the same breath, eh?

    You know, when I think of the name “Murderdolls,” I think more of a female-fronted dark cabaret group, sorta like The Birthday Massacre or Jack off Jill, maybe even Kittie. I don’t think of a group primarily composed of dudes, with goofy goth ICP-wannabe lyrics.

    I’ve seen local bands with three whole songs to their name with better indie concert promotional material than that album cover “art”, too. Maybe it was fan material from a overweight 8th grade fan, done in between her “I wish I was as depressed as Poe, so I’ll write conformist non-conformist goth-centric” poems?

        I’ve heard the Dresden Dolls, among others, but “Murderdolls” just doesn’t seem an appropriate name for a band with no (if I can tell correctly) female members.

    I know I lose a lot of points for this but, I liked some of the first Muderdolls record. Everytime I say something about them around people I get funny looks…..But that cover is fucking low budget crap made on Photoshop. Should be a contest to make fun of that cover!!

      Yeah, the first Murderdolls record was a guilty pleasure of mine. Some of the lyrics were somewhat funny.

    Sweet! New CC at the end of August. That cover art is nuts, but very well done.

    I have never heard Murderdolls and will keep it that way.
