EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: THE BINARY CODE’S “PRIEST”

the binary code - priest

This past Spring, The Binary Code — still pretty much our favorite unsigned metal band on the East Coast — announced that they were gonna be selling/trading a new three song EP on the road. Now that EP, Priest, is going to be made available to non-concert goers on August 10 — with a new batch of mixes and a bonus track — and guess what? We have your first taste right here: the awesome, brootaler-than-thou, microchip-in-your-brain techy title track. Turn that shit ALL THE WAY UP for maximum metaltude before you hit “play.” And make sure there are no small animals or children nearby, because you might accidentally melt their brains.

Unfortunately for all of you, the limited edition, hand-made, autographed CD copies of the EP are all sold-out already — but you can pre-order Priest here as a digital download, or as a download and t-shirt package (which is what we’re going for — the merch, designed by guitarist Jesse Zuretti, is frickin’ sweet). It’s been really amazing watching this band just get better and better over the past several months — the material on Priest already smokes last year’s Suspension of Disbelief. Go order a copy.

Catch The Binary Code at their EP release show August 2nd at the Charleston in Brooklyn with East of the Wall, Iron Thrones, Name and Meek Is Murder, and on a fall East Coast tour to be announced soon.

Fuck yeah. Priest EP was good times.

  • The Apostate

Doesn’t really make me want to throw anyone through the window of my office. That said, I hope these guys find great success. They’re obviously very talented musicians.

I just wish the high-pitched screams were less raspy. I like that BTBAM style of screaming, it just doesn’t work with these guys’ style of playing.

I dunno if anyone understand what I’m trying to say, because I tend to ramble like an idiot most of the time. In that case, disregard this message.

    • Andy Synn

I like raspy. Raspy breeds character.

      • Gaia

They kinda remind me of Ihsahn’s.

    • facelessjane

I concur, his vox could use more ‘meaty’ tone.

These guys are amazing! I can’t wait to get my copy of the hand-made CD, I ordered it right away! Oh and Jesse is about the coolest dude around. The band I’m in, Odyssey, got to open for them in Spokane, WA and we’ve been in touch ever since. There’s a high level of respect between our band and The Binary Code that’s awesome! We can’t wait to play another show with them. :)

    • Jason

I’m with you. Can’t wait for my CD either.

That is a bloody horrible guitar tone… Pass..

    • Matt

This recording doesn’t sound that great in general

  • Coop

Kudos to the Binary Code guys for getting this much exposure without a label, but this song is really boring to me.

Thanks, brotato. Maybe the other tracks will be more up your alley.

nice this shit rules The Binary Code wooo

  • http://www.heavyblogisheavy.com/ Alkahest

These guys are in the same league as BTBAM with the breakdowns that are actually great with anthemic and hard hitting lyrics.

“I WILL NOT FOLLOW. I WILL NOT KNEEL.” That’s pretty metal, in my opinion.

  • Driven9

hell yeah! big step up from the last tracks i heard from these guys. well done

    fuckin sick!!!

Very nice. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album. I hope these guys find success as well.

  • NONEMOREVILE

This is pretty much the most thin sounding track I’ve ever heard.

I don’t know if there is as little to this song as I think or if the overall tone is just completely sucking the life out of the song but at any rate it’s more or less a snoozefest to begin with.

Normally I listen to brutal death metal/gore grind and things in the general musical range but occasionally I listen to parkway drive and some other types of similar bands and they’ve gotten TERRIBLE reviews on this site yet you praise the balls out of shit like this.

It just makes me feel like you guys don’t have any fucking idea what you’re saying most of the time.

  • HopigDestroyer

Thank you Metalsucks for introducing me to such a great band, when I read these words “microchip-in-your-brain” I didn’t believe you but after listening to this track I totally agree with you this is a slayer of a song.
Thank you METALSUCKS!!!!!! I already listened to this song for 5 times now.

As much as I enjoyed their debut album this track seems pretty meh to me. Kinda follows the vein of less catchy tracks from Suspension of Disbelief. Hope that the second album will be a good step forward for the band.

  • steelie

The intro is dire in my opinion. Really annoying guitar tones. It does pick up significantly later on though.

  • thisshitsucks

I will never understand the hype behind this band. Their songs aren’t catchy. They have a terrible guitar tone. It all sounds like uninspired bullshit. Sounds like the guitarist just learned how to play guitar 3 months ago.
