The good news is that Linkin Park’s new single, “The Catalyst,” doesn’t sound exactly like every other song the band has ever recorded; the bad news is, it might actually be worse. Zach Shaw at Metal Insider points out that the tune has an uncanny resemblance to Turkey’s entry in the 2010 Eurovision contest, which is to say, Linkin Park now sound like a terrible disco rock band that might be enjoyed by a Sacha Baron Cohen character. This might even ruin the new Medal of Honor for me, if I didn’t already know that I’m just gonna turn the sound off and crank Prostitute Disfigurement while I kill things anyway.

    I know dance music is popular right now, but Linkin Park has really outdone themselves this time. It’s so fucking synth-driven and processed, it makes me want to either dance, puke, or go on a rampage. Or perhaps a dancing puke rampage….

    In other news, Linkin Park has announced their fall tour, which will only make stops at European discoteques.

    it’s not so bad… cause it’s not instantly recognizable as linkin park. heck, i’ll admit i liked their first album (for two spins, before i realized that every song was the same)… though i was 18. no biggie, i like to think it was one of the stepping stones to good metal, IE nile
